Max Power

I liked his baker brother from LA "Flour Power" and his electrician cousin from Berwick .. Northern Power.

Yep, a good League One player. Can never understand the abuse he gets from some on here. We had the likes of Dobson and Scowen who were terrible. And then there's donkeys Kyle Lafferty.
He got a decent, albeit slightly mixed reception when he came back with Wigan for the first game of the following season. Then proceeded to spend 90 minutes tapping the Wigan badge and going out of his way to wind up the home fans and got booed.

That kind of summed him up I think. He was a pretty average player in a terrible team but thought of himself as a League One Steven Gerrard. A legend in his own head. We seemed to play Wigan loads during that time and he was absolutely dreadful every time because he was so wound up and wanted to put on a show. Our fortunes changed once we started to bring in players who just wanted to work hard and improve, I think the likes of Power, Maguire and Wyke were too concerned with playing the daft lad even though they were perfectly capable on the pitch.

He was ok. The biggest problem we had at that time is that all of our central midfielders had the exact same attributes. Decent at knocking the ball around, but small and one-paced. Without doubt the slowest Sunderland side of my lifetime, maybe ever.
Signing leadbitter was odd now looking back. No legs at all

They started to change because we signed better players like Ross Stewart and Alex Pritchard and started picking better players like Dan Neil

He was the best pointer of where he wanted someone to go that Ive seen in a Sunderland shirt. Shame the ball he played rarely went where he pointed.

Not having that Seb was the best pointer ever

Had some quality did Leadbitter, but never had legs … it limited him to being a Championship player at his peak
