England World Cup squad news

Midfield looks very good, defence dodgy and weaker than previous tournaments, forwards ok but if kane who normally tires in the latter stages anyway gets injured then we're fucked.Pickford bar the odd worldy hasn't looked as good as he normally does this season. The good thing is bar France and Spain the others don't look too clever.

Tbf I think klopp would be a good fit for the English style of play and the players we have available
Dont think English pressing game is the way to win the World Cup in 35C heat

Perhaps Tuchel has a better way.

We'll need to pace ourselves and rotate

Tuchel is weird.
Had a good reputation then came to Chelsea and all I remember is lots of dull nil nils.
Goes back abroad does ok.
Comes back to take the England job as everyone decides Carlsey didn’t sing the anthem so we need a proper Englishman. And hire a German.
Does okish but then seems to go back to extremely dull football.
Picks a couple of very injury prone defenders with Dan Burn as back up

Fair enough.

Except i cannot for the life of me think of any situation that will arise on the field of play in this tournament where Dan Burn will be the best English player alive today who will be the man for that particular moment. Not one.

Really? Odd because he is probably the tallest English player in the league now Crouch is gone. Nearly 6’8.

I think he is shit but if you have a corner or free kick last minute who else better to throw up. Considering he scored a winning header in the League cup final for the mags.

Again, shit, but just pointing out there is a scenario where you would want him in the box.

Just isn't true though.

Came to Chelsea and won the Champions league.

This is maybe true. However there are two problems for me:
1. Why don’t all the other teams pick a really tall player then?
And
2. I just feel there are bound to be injuries with Livramento, Stones and James - really good chance Burn ends up playing more. And he’s useless against pace, never mind how a giraffe from Blyth will cope with the roasting weather 🌦️

I'd put Maguire ahead of Burn if it came to an offensive threat from set pieces. he has shown that in his England career as well as for man utd regularly. If you had to bet on someone scoring a last minute goal from a set peice or even getting his head on the ball from a corner to create a chance for someone else then I'd pick Maguire over Burn in a heratbeat.

In his Mag career Burn has scored seven goals, Maguire 17 for Man U. (Maguire seven for England.)

Beating heavy favourites in the final
Aye. I should have googled it. Just remember it being tremendously boring. Basically we’re back to square one - end justifies the means. Boring football won’t matter as long as we lift the trophy. What could possibly go wrong? 🤣

Although I don’t agree with some of the squad picks , listening to him you can understand his logic , appreciate the thought he has put in and accept that he is a step up from some of the England managers of the past .
Having said that if we struggle I’ll be calling him all the cnts under the sun .

Maguire, it’s like that massive bonce of his had its own gravitational field. It’s absolutely mental how many offensive headers he wins on corners

What’s he said pal? I haven’t heard his side of the story yet
