England World Cup squad news

Usually with a squad for a major tournament you get a handful of selections that people don't agree with, and debate over them one way or the other.

With this one, there's unanimous disagreement over about half the squad!
It’s really not all that contentious. There’s a few weird picks but they’re mostly at the end of the bench - and largely limited to defence. In midfield and forward areas they’re all pretty deserving picks (for the ones who will actually see the pitch).

Yeah, not sure I quite get the whohar over it all tbh. Wait and see how they perform as a group, doing well in these tournaments is nearly always having a cohesive team instead of star single players.

As seen in the premier league this season a huge number of traditional "big name" players just haven't been performing and Tuchel has been travelling around watching loads of them in person

Sectioned off into roles and it’s not all that wild, what he’s done. The likes of MGW and an out of form Palmer are up against Rodgers (who has performed at Villa and England), an Eze who has been in the England picture for years and has been a big part of the title winners, and a long time England talisman in Bellingham. We don’t need 4 players for the 10 role.

Similar with Madueke. Do we have any left footed right wingers who deserve to go more? The Toney pick is odd but Kane will play every meaningful minute, with Watkins mopping up the rest. He’ll likely perform the role he did last time as penalty specialist. If it comes to it, we’ll be glad he’s there over DCL - a missed chance in human form

What's Madueke done to be deserving of a place? I'd rather have Bowen or Palmer

Ballsy move from Tuchel in some picks but it doesn't surprise me. He does it his way and his career suggests hes very successful at what he does.

See how it plays out.

Don’t get how Burn gets in over Maguire

Spence ahead of Hall. Both are garbage!

That being said, we have a world class manager now and I’m interested to see what happens this tournament. The guy knows what he is doing.
