England World Cup squad news

I feel like throwing world cups should be illegal and carry a prison sentence. By the next World Cup people will have passed away.

Finishing 16th was successful?

The only time we were successful was the playoff final when he was taken off injured almost immediately. Or the league one playoff final he was dropped for.

Onien wasn’t good enough for the championship and isn’t good enough for this team either. And is still a better option for England than burn.
I hope Pure Football never changes

Edit: Should add hope you're just being a dope, and not a sad Mag virign like

According to the BBC

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), James Trafford (Manchester City)
Defenders: Reece James (Chelsea), Tino Livramento (Newcastle), Marc Guehi (Manchester City), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), John Stones (Manchester City), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), Nico O'Reilly (Manchester City), Dan Burn (Newcastle)
Midfielders: Declan Rice (Arsenal), Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jordan Henderson (Brentford), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)
Forwards: Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Ivan Toney (Al-Ahli), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Noni Madueke (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

Quansah, Burn & Gordon shouldn't be there for me

Good god that defence is poverty. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’d only James, Guehi and O’Reilly get anywhere near our starting eleven.

This is and was always going to be a massive contradiction.
As soon as he left Bellingham out of one of his first squads and said he was picking on form (i.e. have to actually be playing games well) not reputation he painted himself into a corner he now can't get out of. Had to bring Bellingham back in even though he's not had any sort of form this season. You can't say you select on form and leave Gibbs-White out. Bloke clearly doesn't like him, having only picked him as a last resort previously and hardly used him. But then picks Toney. Henderson and Stones can only have been picked on reputation. Total contradiction.
He's clearly decided how he wants to play and who is best for that plan regardless of form. Trouble is that plan seems to be based on work rate and I'm not sure that's going to be possible in the heat.
There are at least 8 players in that likely squad who can't be picked on either reputation or form and/or are playing lower level football (Toney/Quansah)
Totally get that the likes of Foden and Palmer have poor form but as a coach is that you admitting that you can't inspire clearly talented players to capture their best form. Surely that's within your gift as a coach to make best use of your best tools. Not like they'd make the first XI anyway but potential game changers against top level opposition. Bringing Madueke and Gordon on instead is hardly going to put fear into any opposition.
I reckon the blokes an egomaniac The anti RLB. Pep will be in place come September. Can't imagine he'd want to manage in Italy or France. Won't go back to Barca or Bayern. Can't take the Real or Spain jobs, doubt he'll go to another EPL team.

Can't believe he's not taking Palmer or Foden.

Bowen instead of Gordon? ….Gibbs White? Palmer? …..Not sure what they see in Newcastle? I take O9 before Burn for that matter

I’m not sure that Quansah is playing lower level football unless your suggestion is that Harry Kane also is.

Agreed with pretty much everything else though and I wouldn’t be taking Quansah. Suspect he gets in because he can play across the back line.

Bowen and Gordon play on opposite wings so aren’t really direct competition

Great player James, one of the best and very versatile but what a horrendous injury record. Given the amount of games in WC I’d be surprised he makes it through
Fingers crossed like
