The rumour is they've came to a mutual agreement for him to leave at the end of the season.

If true, I doubt the club will actually confirm it until then though trusted journos might get wind of it.

Iraola massively dropped into favourite today with the bookies who are taking bets on next permanent Livepool manager.

Can't see a world in which they wouldn't have done it to get Alonso, if they were going to.

I'd imagine Alonso's agent was told Liverpool have no intention of sacking Slot, as he'd definitely have gone there instead of Chelsea.

Liverpool will want a head coach rather than a manager.

It depends on whether Iraola fancies it, as I could easily see them going for him over Alonso, given what he's achieved with a Bournemouth squad that lost several of its best players.

Salah's Instagram post has thrown a spanner in the works for them, as it has severely undermined Slot. A number of players have backed him up with likes and comments on the post as well.

Iraola could be a contender now, but still think if it was a straight choice Alonso would win it hands down. The only difference, you’d guess, is Iraola would cost a lot less.

He will have been in contention ever since he announced his departure from Bournemouth. Chelsea appointed Alonso as manager, not head coach (which Liverpool will want).

Salah made that post after Chelsea hired Alonso, which has forced the club's owners to decide whether to support Slot or the senior players who expressed their support for Salah.
