Yes, I always wanted to go to Wembley.

Saw all the WC Qualifiers for 1999 and a few friendlies since.

Then I always wanted to see my team at Wembley, I did, the loss to Norwich.

After goalless visits v Swindon and Liverpool I wanted to see my team score at Wembley.

I did v Charlton.

I wanted to see my team win at Wembley, after losses to Man City, Portsmouth and Charlton, I did v Wycombe at the 8th time then again v Sheffield Utd and as you say, everyone thought we’d win and the relief was palpable. Game v Tranmere doesn’t count as we couldn’t go.

Awesome achievement! Still have a very soft spot for that first season back under uncle Tone like. Some of the football was lovely that year and Clarke and Amad and Roberts running around just causing havoc. Beautiful
