Luke O'Nien

Hard to believe that this nonsense has gone on for 114 pages. The only opinion that really matters is RLB's and he trusts 09 as a dependable (and somewhat versatile) squad player not as a starter. The other players, including Xhaka, show him respect. The small minority who think he isn't good enough for us are irrelevant.
He's fine as a squad player like. Can come in and fill a gap for 5-7 appearances a season. Hardly any would have an issue with that.

This

If Luke is good enough for the praise of Granit Xhaka he should be good enough for anyone.

Which is what I've been saying but has upset at least one poster. Mental

Absolutely, even more so next season if we qualify for Europe. Helps with home grown quota, too

It would appear you do
Happy for him to stick around next season, come off the bench when needed and fill in during a crisis, plus his backroom off the field presence. That's fine.

My issue was when he was starting games when Geertruida is sitting on the bench. Or put Mukiele CB and hume right back.

Both of them alternatives make us a better team than with o'nien centre bsck IMO. That is an opinion that is allowed.

I mean that is more or less what he has done this season and other than the Man City game he has not let us down at all

He has made a few mistakes but so have plenty others

He was part of a squad that let everyone down at Port Vale. I don't think I'll ever get over that result 😂

To be fair on RLB, he had a lot of players to suss out and find where they most helped the team so no huge surprise 09 got into the team. He's clearly going to be dedicated in training, but he's a very strong lad, more than many people think. His last game was his best ever in an SAFC shirt...the more games he gets the better he could become. Worked for many others!

Has happened twice this season. In one of those games, we kept a clean sheet and Geertruida's replacement scored the only goal.

In the next we unsurprisingly we kept the same back four. Absolutely no-one thought Geertruida should play going into that Villa game.

Barely even an issue really.

Disagree. I did and few others I speak to did. So 'absolutely no-one' isn't true.

Okay?

But you must be able to see that keeping our goalscorer and MOTM from the previous game in the same position was a logical and very uncontroversial decision, no?

We are talking about 1 game here out of 37.
