It will be funny if Southampton try taking an appeal to the High Court on the grounds that the punishment was unreasonable.

Sixty two percent of senior Judges attended public school so asking one of them if was fair that some rotter who cheated at sports was disqualified is likely to fall on pretty deaf ears. 😁

Didn't say it was relevant, Southampton should be punished. For me, they should be demoted to League 1 as chances are they've done this before every match where possible and their extraordinary change in form just happened to coincide with Eckert coming in - who has admitted to thinking it was Ok to do as you can do it abroad. Do they really think we believe they only did it for a couple of matched?

When Swindon got expelled Newcastle argued that they should go up as they finished higher in the league.

Imagine if the football league agreed to that argument after we had beaten them over 2 legs.

As I said in my post, what Southampton have admitted is almost certainly only the tip of the iceberg.

Wrexham will claim they should've had a play off place and will most likely be speaking to other teams who may have suspicions. The publicity around the case alone would provide enough material to make a new Disney+ series by itself, nevermind owt else.

I didn't mean it was going to, or should affect the decision made yesterday regarding the final. My post was maybe a bit too vague/poorly constructed.

I genuinely think Wrexham will be in touch with other clubs. I also think that if they have their own evidence AND that of others, they'll be lodging complaints, independently or as a group with other clubs.

I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. They’re appealing as the rules say they can! Since when did they care about the rules? Fuck em.

I’d send em down into the national league myself but only if there’s no anti spying rules there. If there is then I’d hoy em as past the last league that that has anti spying rules there spying rules.
If they don’t respect the rules why should they have any right of appeal against st anything? It’s not acceptable to pick and choose which rules apply to themselves.

Eckert should be asked why Oxford and then nobody for months? Then the cheating git should be deported.

Boro saw the 'spy' and reported it on Thursday 7th. EFL charged Southampton on the 8th and the 1st leg was on the Saturday 9th. Some reckon Boro should have refused to play the 1st leg but innocent until proven guilty surely? Realistically how could Boro refuse to play when they won't have a clue about the outcome. If it didn't go in their favour, what would be the consequences? They will have needed more time to make their own investigations to find more evidence of cheating to back up their claims also.

When they expressed their concerns to the EFL they could have enquired about a delay but the EFL told them to play the game or forfeit it. I think the correct punishment for Southampton should have been a 3-0 awarding to Boro for the 1st leg and therefore Boro win 4-2 on aggregate. Boro proceed to the Final and Southampton lose the semi rather than being booted out.

It's just the fact the 1st leg was so soon after the spying that it would be impossible to investigate without postponing games. From the EFL's point of view, what if Southampton were innocent? Even if they'd postponed the game and investigate then Southampton would have been hoyed out so Boro would have got a bye to the final.
