Southampton spying compendium thread

There was a suggestion when the news first broke that all analysts in The Championship do it, and it's just a non-spoken agreement between the clubs. I'm pretty sure I read the analysts all know eachother so they even communicate with eachother when they'll be there as a heads up.

It does seem canny weird - especially when it's only those two teams to come out with 'Boro.

Might be, and probably am, just looking into it too much and all the crack about analysts all doing it is all bollocks.

The thing is it isn’t illegal if invited by the other club. It’s only a an offence when uninvited and 72 hours before a game. Some clubs and analysts may well have some sort of gentleman’s agreement.

You wouldn't be shocked if it was a common thing like would you.

Institutionally, Southampton are looking like a rabbit caught in headlights. No update to their Twitter feed since 18 May - a tweet about the team training for the final. No message to the fans on their website.

There was clearly a major doubt about their participation in the final ahead of the hearing yesterday. Unbelievable that they went ahead and sold their allocation seemingly without any contingency plan. Was that deliberate? Were they using the plight of their own fans as leverage to pressure the EFL into imposing a lesser sanction?
That would be pretty damning, as if it needs to be moreso. Using your fans as a weapon/tool to get a lesser punishment. Bit of a dealbreaker for most relationships. But fans and their clubs are a special relationship.

Postpone the final, to conduct more enquiries, and if the game has to be played between Hull & Boro, it'll be unlikely to be played at Wembley, which is apparently booked many months in advance.

The final could then, possibly be played at a later date, at Old Trafford, which is adequate to host a game, suited to accommodate the fan bases of both Hull & Boro.

Why more enquiries?

What a complete and utter farce this is

There's nothing to enquire about though- they've admitted it

Having seen the club's official statement, I'm more convinced than ever that they deliberately pushed ticket sales - despite the prospect of being kicked out of the final - in order to use the plight of tens of thousands of supporters as an argument for going ahead.

A responsible club would have included a disclaimer on ticket sales, and would have outlined contingency plans for refunds etc in advance.

Because Hull are now consulting lawyers with a possible view to an appeal that they ought to be promoted instead of Southampton.
I mean so are Wrexham, so are their own players.

End of the day it can’t rumble on.

Nothing was going to 100% fair, but this is probably the only way to do it. It’s all down to Southampton.
EFL board are convening to discuss the matter.

I’ve got no idea how they can be criticised mind

That would be the fairest way for a satisfactory out come.. Boro lost. Saints are sanctioned. Hull have done nothing wrong.
Yes but the validity of the result between Boro and Southampton has been called into question- but as a systemic issue it calls into question all of Southampton's results. So the only two fair outcomes I can see are Wrexham and Middlesbrough playing a semi and Hull playing the winner or hull playing Boro.

Ultimately Hull have to face someone I think (though they should probably have a case for a postponement).
