Southampton spying compendium thread

But hang on - Boro are the ones who have been cheated here, not Hull. Boro might have beaten Southampton if they hadn't spied on them and knew all about their set pieces and tactics?

Yes, but every other team in The Championship have also been cheated. The integrity of the entire season has gone.

Arsenal would probably have an argument that they might have won the FA Cup if it wasn't for Southampton.

The fact Boro have been awarded, whilst Wrexham missed out on the Play-Offs all together due to Southampton cheating suggests there's a lack of integrity with the decision all together and either way the EFL did it - obviously that's out of the EFL's control though. Conclusion is that Hull should have just been given a bye.

It's like us being in an FA cup final, finding out whether we play City or Liverpool three days before and folk saying, sorry, prepare for them both and don't worry about it.
Surely they'd prep for both to some degree though? How do teams manage preparations during a season when they play one team on a Wednesday and then a different team on the Saturday?

It's been 9 days now since Hull got into the final and it will have been 12 days come the final. Surely they've had plenty of time to look at Southampton to be 90% ready. They could have also looked at Boro and today will probably focusing more on Boro in the run up to the final, more so if the appeal isn't successful.

I bet Hull prefer to play Boro anyway even though they've beaten Southampton twice this season. That was way back in September and January and Southampton are a much better team since then and now (spying aside).

Southampton won 8 of their last 10 in the league and drew the other 2. They also drew with and beat Boro in the playoffs. Boro won 2 of their last 10 league games and didn't win against Southampton. I know who'd I'd want to be playing in the final if it we were in Hull's position 🤪

There’s also the fact that Southampton probably wouldn’t have got into the play offs without their cheating.

Let’s not pretend they’ve only did it 3 times. They’d have done it for every game since this manager has come in.

Explains their upturn in form.

Cheats.

If its boro v hull final on Saturday
Surely ref and linesmen from Hampshire for twist in tale ???
Var staff pompy season ticket holders ??
It's literally farce after farce like 👍

They'll be getting their excuses and accusations in early, just in case they need them. I'm fairly sure Hull would rather play Boro, missing two of their best players, than a bang in form Southampton.
Excuses or not, they are being fucked about with. As of yesterday morning it was Southampton, since last night it was Middlesbrough, now they get a kick off time for potential games against both teams.

SSN reported on the game and one or two facts were made apparent to me and it can be summed up by saying this whole sordid situation has benefitted nobody. Boro have now suddenly been thrusted into the game and will have had less training and preparation time than Hull and having expected Southampton they now have to prepare for Middlesbrough. All their research on the main Southampton players to look out for is now in the bin.

The sooner the game is over the better!
It’s still going to be great for Hull and Boro. People are wetting themselves about nothing
They’re two good teams playing for a great prize. It’ll be class

This!

As I've just said, Boro won just 2 of their last 10 games, one being Sheff Wed the other against a shite Watford. Whereas Southampton won 8 of the 10, drawing the other 2. This years results are down below and if you had a poll on here as to who we'd want to play, it would be Boro that got the vast majority of votes.

Given the 12 days between Hull's last game and the final, they'll be prepared for both and these next few days fine tuning it. Like I said, how do teams prepare for games during the season when playing 1 team on a Wednesday and then another on Saturday?

People keep undervalue-ing the point that Boro lost to a team who were cheating. Of course they should get their spot back.

So did the entirety of The Championship. Wrexham missed out on the Play-Offs to a team that were cheating. Arsenal missed on the FA Cup to a team that were cheating.

Institutionally, Southampton are looking like a rabbit caught in headlights. No update to their Twitter feed since 18 May - a tweet about the team training for the final. No message to the fans on their website.

There was clearly a major doubt about their participation in the final ahead of the hearing yesterday. Unbelievable that they went ahead and sold their allocation seemingly without any contingency plan. Was that deliberate? Were they using the plight of their own fans as leverage to pressure the EFL into imposing a lesser sanction?
