Southampton spying compendium thread

To be honest I hope they treat this like a frivolous red card appeal. Double the fine and take more points
theyve clearly added the 4 point deduction so they can remove that today as a small appeasement.
Could someone please explain why the KO time will be brought forward and hour if Boro play Hull - why not just leave it at 4.30pm?

Better trains home for the Berra

Imagine someone telling the EFL ten days ago that three days out from their most coveted showcase match that an appeal would be ongoing and different kick off times are being implemented depending on who is playing!!! This must be the biggest clusterf... nightmare they could have ever envisioned.
Southampton have effing ruined this years play offs, a competition that is often the highlight of the FL season and much anticipated. I hope it's a cracking final after all of this.

Absolutely ridiculous how unfair this is on Hull
The domino effect is quite staggering really. Hull have cause to complain about loads. Southampton players and fans entitled to kick off. Money spent, lack of earnings, you name it. Teams that missed out on play offs such as Millwall and Wrexham can claim that Southampton's lightning form was through cheating etc. The claims can go on and on.

Well let's see what if anything they come up with, but I don't see a single point that is legally actionable. The FL haven't broken any rules, all Hull have here is an entirely theoretical change in probability. Both teams finished above Hull in the table, both were in better form than Hull, Southampton were the most in form team (probably in the whole of Europe), arguably Hull's chances of success have just improved. As for preparation, they were always going to be playing one of these teams in the final, which opponent they eventually face is normal uncertainty, the delay unavoidable.

I disagree that preparation is unchanged or that the delay, or at least the outcome, was unavoidable. Intangibles could decide the final, the uncertainty for Hull, the possible invigoration of a club that felt their season was finished, but now have another chance.

It'll all come out in the wash, but for me, unfair on Hull.

Nonsense.

But I can't see how else it could have been done.

1. Let Southampton play the final against Hull - potentially rewarding them for cheating (when it's quite feasible that they shouldn't even have QUALIFIED for the play-offs), which in turns tells every other club that it's worth the risk of being caught cheating.

2. Scrap the final altogether and just promote Hull - It could be argued that they deserve that because their 'fellow finalists' are now disqualified so there is no opposition. But, their other potential opponents were denied their chance of a final place because they were cheated against., and surely promoting a club after just the semi final devalues the competition - especially when Hull aren't the club that have been cheated (by Southampton).

Of course it's not ideal, but what were they meant to do?
Southampton HAD to be dealt with and the play off final needs to go ahead (for various reasons), it can't be delayed by much cos of other things looming (players needing to be released for world cup duties etc).

The fairest way would be just to award Hull a bye, and therefore announce them Play-Off winners.

The only reason the final is going ahead is due to how much money it makes for the EFL.

Re: The second point, every team in the division could make that point. Wrexham, for example, could make the argument that they should have been in the Play-Offs because Southampton had been cheating throughout the season.

I don't think it's disasterous that they've put Boro in the final in their place, it's not like it's made it a farce or anything, but I do feel for Hull - especially if they don't win.

Said on the other thread I don’t have much sympathy for them as a lot didn’t give a toss about it until they were booted out.

The thousands signing we will spy where we want in the second leg, the fancy dress, lauding Harwood Bellis’ celebration.

They now seem to want the World to forget a large number found it hilarious up until they were booted out and rebrand themselves as the moral guardians of Southampton who always had an issue with their clubs behaviour.
Haway man, just about every clubs fans would have had a small section taking the piss. We had some of our lot singing "He shags who he wants" when the Johnson shit first came about didn't we? I wouldn't do shit like that personally but silly stuff happens throughout football.

A single lad being caught with an iPhone at the time seems very trivial. Look at the reaction by many on here saying it was fuck all. Do you really not expect that some of our fans wouldn't take the piss in the game? We'd also be pissing ourselves laughing if Luke did the spying gesture.

Now a lot more of the truth has come out they look like idiots as it seems it's a much more serious issue, but footy fans will be footy fans before the facts come out, that's a given.

can see this getting delayed. Boro don't even have tickets on sale yet and now they're messing about with kick off times

Those saying it was trivial would be the ones I would haven o sympathy for. Literal pictures of a club staff member watching the opposition training session. It's been obvious from the start this is incredibly serious. If it was SAFC I would have been immediately worried about sanctions and wouldn't have revelled in it in the slightest
