I think it's the right decision but you have to feel for Hull.

Both Boro and Southampton can prepare to play them while they don't know who they'll end up with.

Its unprecedented territory for the league so tricky to manage but maybe they should have had a training ban for all teams until the outcome was decided. That way it levels the playing field a little.

I think Hull prefer to play Boro over Southampton

It's as if they've chucked that in there for that very reason. No way the expulsion will be reversed, but they may well reduce their points deduction to 1, which in itself would take the piss out of Southampton even further!

I'm not sure too many Southampton fans would've been staying over in London, anyway, with Southampton being less than a 2 hour journey, from the capital.

Like most clubs they'll have fans travelling from all over the country.

There’s no way the efl are just cancelling their biggest game of the season like. I’d argue this is the only fair outcome. Boro are the ones that have been cheated in this part of the season. The playoffs are separate to the league season. This is probably the only outcome that makes sense. Hull still have to beat a team to go up, Southampton get the full force of cheating which now seems like over a period of time and the efl get their showcase game still.

You can’t quantify the advantage Southampton gained is my only issue. As someone with no skin in the game whatsoever, if we’d been in this position last season, I’d rather have been in boro’s shoes than hull. Someone watching your training session through an iPhone from a bush is less impactful than preparing to play an entirely different opponent while the new opponent has been exclusively training for you.

Given that Southampton have basically admitted the charges, the only appeal can be against the sanctions.

The games they’ve admitted to they’ve took 1 point. Personally I think there will be more to come. Any game they get busted for, if they took points, deduct them for next season.

EFL had no other choice. If they'd got off lightly then it set a precedent. However, it feels like calls for retrospective actions and legal threats seem to becoming more common.

Id say its the league thats been most wronged. if Oxford or Ipswich has noted and reported it earlier, Southampton wouldnt have been in this position fullstop. Now theyve been put in a position of not being able to make any decision that doesnt piss of someone

They won the game against Southampton, so I can't see that getting any traction.

Would only be the punishment being too harsh, but I think it could potentially get worse if anything.

The right decision for me, and i can't see any clubs doing it in the future now.
