Southampton spying compendium thread

Correct decision, feel sorry for the fans but to admit you have cheated for at least four games - which I assume they’ve only done that as there is evidence - makes an appeal impossible imo.

Would rather Hull or Boro up.

I can say without doubt the worst pain of the lot from football.
It drags it up from those years back and will never forget it.

Losing a derby, relegation or losing a play off final insignificant.

You go to the highest of the highs and hit the lowest of the lows.
You will never have to experience that. It’s sickening.
We deserved to be promoted after your lot were disciplined. However, after being rightly beaten at Wembley and having that disappointment, being promoted via the discipline procedure, was good, but didn't compensate for the Wembley trip.

What were Southampton thinking?

A ridiculous way to torpedo your own season.
In their defence, the punishment wasnt defined for the crime. They probably wouldn’t have done it if the EFL set the punishment when they changed the rule. It’s fuck around and find out though for sure. Interesting they’ve admitted to doing it in games they failed to win (they failed to beat Boro too afterwards) so suspect their defence is going to be look what little impact it has.

Hopefully the appeal tomorrow will focus only on whether the first hearing was correctly conducted and interpreted the rules correctly rather than a rerun of the facts. Can’t see a reversal of the decision.

Given that Southampton have basically admitted the charges, the only appeal can be against the sanctions.

Stretching back to December, they have definitely been at it all season and these are the only ones they will willingly admit to.

Arguably they could be deducted all the points they gained from at least December, next season.

Seems like a crazy punishment to me but if that's what is stated in the rules then so be it.

I would imagine that the punishment for financial doping over a decade won't even be as severe as this.
