Southampton spying compendium thread

I don't know, but FIFA sanctions aren't EFL sanctions. We'll find out soon enough ... it'll be interesting / funny whatever happens, and I hope Hull prevail whoever they do or don't play.

They aren’t and there is no requirement to follow FIFA precedent but FIFA are the Global governing body so gives Boro quite a bit of ammunition to use them as the example. Far more so then sporting equivalents in other sports or walks of life.

I'm also not sure any court of law wouldn't just chuck it out ... again, we might see, we might not.

When’s the panel supposed to be giving its verdict?

Tomorrow but not publish the findings until a few weeks which lawyers are already having a field day with as the appeal process would have to be immediate and it’s arguably impossible to file an appeal without the full written verdict. It’s a mess

I don’t think Boro have any sporting recourse either way. I’m talking purely in terms of Gibson suing Southampton which they will likely do regardless of what happens (Unless reinstated and it becomes irrelavant)

People talking about Wrexham missing out are missing the point. This investigation is about the play off semi final and the incident occured after the end of the regular season. To my mind if found guilty Boro should be awarded a 3-0 win in the first leg and play Hull in the final.

If subsequent investigations reveal Saints have been doing it all season then thats a different box of frogs and could lead to points deductions and fines etc down the line. The task in hand is to sort out the play offs only.
Where’s the river Tee?
Its a few rivers along from the D.
Has it still not been decided like?

What a ridiculous organisation the EFL are ffs.
The EFL are not in charge of the investigation. Its being done by an independant body.

Do they decide the sanction or just determining guilt or otherwise. I can't believe the EFL would not be involved in determining the level of sanction.
They decide the sanction. The EFL may make representations (IDK if they do to be honest). Like how in court the prosecutor and defence each make representations about sentence but the judge decides.

I sometimes wonder if the EFL have said tomorrow on the grounds that this is the day when any IDC AND any appeal hearing will wrap up no later than tomorrow

Loads of money went on boro to win promotion overnight . Southampton drifting like a barge . If saints get kicked out final . Will be literally unreal situation. And awful for players and fans . No doubt manager sacked as well immediately

What I haven’t seen mentioned is how long the lad was watching. If he was there 5 minutes then he won’t have seen anything that could affect anything.
If he watched over an extended period of time then a lot of information could have been gathered.

The way boro are going is . Cheating is cheating . And they're milking it for all there worth . As mega money involved. Its like a bank robbery taking a year in planning or bloked pissed walks in with knife demanding money. Either way a robbery . If southampton kicked out of play offs . Could set them back years . As manager sacked players leave possible points deduction and fine . Unbelievable situation

Yeah, cheating is cheating and a suitable punishment should follow but I wonder how much information could have been gathered and therefore how much Boro’s strategies were compromised. Much of that depends on how long he was there.
If it was a short period of time then boro cannot expect to go through to the final and potentially a heavy fine will be imposed. No way will the play off final just be cancelled by kicking out Southampton.
If the lad was watching for a significant period of time then maybe boro will get a pass to the final.

Nothing will happen tomorrow. Then the EFL will let it drag whilst hoping and Praying that Hull beat them on Saturday. Then problem solved for them and a slap on the wrist for Southampton.

I agree that they will be hoping Hull win but I suspect they will want to chuck the book at Southampton.

If Southampton don’t go up, I can see them getting a 10+ point deduction.
