I'd actually argue this whole episode is now a huge disadvantage to hull.

You've now got both Soton and Boro preparing for a game against hull, while hull don't know who they're playing.

There's a part of me thinking the fairest way to deal with this now if for Southampton to be kicked out the play offs, pay a huge fine (tens of millions) to Boro in compensation, and Hull are promoted. Boro would argue they were unfairly beaten, but you could argue Hull are the only team fully deserving of their place there
