Durham v Kent (A) C.C. 15/5/26

The sun is out. The outfield is bone dry. And they seem to have a hair dryer on the pitch. Having ignored it for the last hour

I’m not sure I’d be happy with that if I was the batting side, we saw how hot air affected pitches in Pakistan a couple of winters ago - unless they’ve only got it on the cold setting
Inspection at 2  off home

Farce

It does appear that umpires cack their pants when a bit of moisture gets into the wicket.

It’s a shame you won’t get to see a bit of cricket, but I can’t say I’m overly upset about this time being lost from the game given our current predicament.

It is what it is. The refund policy is 16 overs

I’ve asked for one anyway given it’s not weather, it’s them being inept.

It’s a glorious day now

We have to assume it's with the full knowledge of the officials and that they're fully cognoscent with the rules.

I don’t doubt that, I was just concerned that something like that could artificially alter the condition of the pitch.

How far have you travelled? It sounds like there will be some cricket, if they’re going to charge you anyway you’ll atleast get chance to watch Bedders and Stokesy batting - if only for one ball each

40mins or so.

It’s a joke

Yeah, it's more than a bit annoying.
They took about 20 pulls of the string to get the leaf blower thingy started.
It's lying there idly, maybe no petrol.
An absolute shambles.
Am still here, much better weather than the previous two days.
Sun quite hot when it's out.
Will wait until two and see.

Also annoyed with their refund policy.
Just been buying tickets the day before as didn't want to book three in advance and not get owt back.
Less than 16 overs gets you a free ticket for any day.
Got here at 11 hoping to see a big stand from these two. Sun is so bright I can hardly see what I'm typing

I bought mine this morning, they seem to increase the prices on the day as well.

Another inspection at 15:00.

Looks canny damp that patch like

It’s the nicest day of the game here. It’s an utter farce. County cricket does itself no favours. A potentially good 4 day game has been ruined either side will only be interested in the final first innings bonus points. They’ve been netting on the square since 11am.

Yeah, £18 day before.
On the tram now, still livid with a complaint I made to the Secretary, Jay Stedwick, or a similar name.
He told me their policy, as we know is under 16 overs gets a free ticket.
Wasn't interested that I'm a Durham fan, cant go tomorrow and won't see Kent this season.
He said they're extending the offer of a free ticket to the England game in a few weeks Lions or ladies, not sure, obviously told hum the same applies to me.
I said I wouldn't be bothered if it was rain, but the game is not being played because of their incompetence.
He actually said it wasn't the fault of the people. working there! Pointing out that that was irrelevant made no difference.
I asked who else could I complain to, he said he's in charge.
Anyone got any ideas?
