Southampton spying compendium thread

They’ve done unbelievably well to get into the play offs from how they started the season. Utter stupidity to potentially throw it away now. Next season in the championship could be quite strong as WHU or Spurs would be likely to bounce straight back. Burnley usually do well in that league and Wolves might turn shit around. That’s before you get your surprise package like Millwall.
Perhaps the reason they've done incredibly well in the last few games is because that's when they started cheating?

This is a bit different, ridiculous comparison
It obviously made no difference because Southampton were absolutely horrendous. As I've said before, If Boro get knocked out it's because Tommy Conway plays for them, not some bloke standing on top of a hill.

Maybe not. It might have been we nearly scored but the illegal player blocked it. Something like that.
Its not so much about the extra player scoring or saving himself. Its having an extra player to close down, to defend, to make it difficult for us to score. Its unbelievable they got away with it.
So is claiming a throw in when you know it hit you last. Teams aren't being thrown out of competitions for that.
So you are saying its open season then because players claim throw ins? Where does bribing opposition players to concede goals? Is that OK because a player dives?

Tranmere Rovers brought on a sub without the subbed player going off and scored against us.

12 players on the pitch and nowt happened to them.

I've just realised its about 22 years ago and I'm still vexed.

Sure it was 2000 , so 26 years ago.

I know. But it pissed me off in particular because I think it was the player who should have gone off or shouldn't have come on who got in the way of a free kick on goal or scored or something like that.

My memory is foggy other than that.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Wasn’t that Murray and Reid’s fault. They didn’t want to be seen as spoiling Tranmere’s big day, even though they broke the rules. Still can’t understand their attitude with regards to not filing a complaint.
Tranmere should have had to forfeit the tie.
I am sure that if it was in a UEFA competition the tie would have been awarded 3 nil to us.

Thought it was they sent a sub on when a player was sent off so they should have had 10 but had 11 on the pitch? Maybe my memory is playing up.

Was it not that they were preparing to make a sub, then had a man sent off, and sent the sub on using the one that had been given the red as the 'substituted' player??

I can’t remember the exact details, but what I do remember is that they had an extra player on the pitch who shouldn’t have been on, so broke the rules.

That's the way I remembered it but when I looked it up it said they had 12 men on the pitch through not subbing anyone off.

I think we are right.

Said it was 2002 which was why I said 24 years ago.
