Carlisle United

Jordan Jones, Ethan Robson & Charlie Wyke all released.

Stephen Wearne, Elliot Embleton & Morgan Feeney remain.

Jordan Jones made on 31 appearances in 2 years and contributed 0 goals and 0 assists.
I remember, probably as recently as a couple of years ago, someone on here claimed he was better than Roberts

I wish I could remember who it was.

I don't know exactly but it must be a fair bit to cover previously offered playing contracts & rise in transfer expenses along with the purchase deal. Added to what Barry says above.

They did very well this season in fairness. If it was any other season they’ll likely have won the league given their points tally. I think they’ll have a much better chance at autos next season, but it’ll be interesting if they keep Hughes.
They didn't really. With their investment they should be winning that league or being neck and neck with York and Rochdale. They have a bench with the likes of Wearne, Embleton, Ethan Robson, Jordan Jones and whenver I have seen them play they look really poor and a badly coached team. Whelan is proven class at that level and cant get in their side. They got their points because the likes of Linney are top class for that level and they have individuals that can win them games. They were outclassed in the semi final and were second best against Gateshead and outclassed by Pools towards the end of the season. I think Hughes is the problem.

Very fair assessment mate. The football this season has been atrocious, winning games down to individual quality (usually from Linney) as opposed to being a good team. No cohesion and no game plan, honestly think Hughes picks the team, sends them out and hopes for the best. Pretty much what Georgie Kelly said around Xmas time in an interview and was immediately dropped from the team.

A points tally is pretty meaningless in isolation. When put into context and in comparison with your surroundings - opposition’s tallys and level of football - the 95 points proved inadequate. They were never in a title race and never really looked like gaining promotion.

7 games against the other teams in the top 4 - 2 v York, 2 v Rochdale, 3 v Borehamwood - the equivalent of 1 point gained. Tells you everything, beat the crap of the league, totally exposed against the top teams.
Turn out for the play off semi looked healthy but Carlisle crowds are notoriously fickle even if they’d gone up so not sure about financial reward attendance wise. I think they’ll do it next time regardless of who the manager is with a leaner squad but I think Hughes will stay, if he does it’s guaranteed.
Fickle is a harsh description of the Carlisle fanbase mate. Previous two seasons were two of the worst in the club’s entire history yet averaged 8,000 and 7,500. This season, which has seen ridiculously low away followings at BP and atrocious football on show, averaged 7,300.
