Niall Huggins.

Someone in League 1 will take a chance on him, most likely. Shame for the lad as he's clearly got talent but the top two leagues seem beyond him currently.
I think it’s a possibility, but given the lack of games he is current.y having I wouldn’t be surprised to see a pay as you play kind of a deal. Such a shame as he has something about him as a player.
Exactly . As a pro player It must be so frustrating to live with such a poor injury record .

Like being a brilliant singer and losing your voice . Good luck to him.
I think it’s a shame as the lad when fit for us as much as it wasn’t very often did look like a player who could step up possibly even to the level we are now at. Hopefully he can get his career going and have a run injury free.

Are pay as you play deals even a thing now? You always see them mentioned on forums when injured players are discussed but I can’t remember the last time I actually heard of one of those deals being made

I would imagine they are normal contracts but with a low basic wage and bigger bonuses aligned to appearances.

Last season we were in the champo not the prem, how can you say he would be a prem player?
25 year old and has played 28 games in his entire career.
Shame for the lad like unlucky with injuries.
Just based on what I’ve seen when he did have a run of games.

Hes one of those players that a fair few fans have just got it stuck in their heads that hes this up and coming youngster because we've basically seen nothing outside of about 5 games since we signed him in League 1 5 years ago,
To be fair, in his limited spell in the team in the championship when he got a few games off the bounce, he was playing as good as, if not better than Hume and Cirkin.

Could have been a good player. Made of glass. Hope he manages to salvage some kind of career.

A real shame like. I’d keep him for another year and try try try to get him and keep him fit. Quality player
If we were in the championship perhaps but I think the reality is he will need to play regularly to have any chance of playing premier league level and that won’t happen here. I think he had that potential but injuries have all but destroyed any chance.
If he’s fit I’d let him go, if he’s still injured and in rehab it’s a different decision and I’d look after him with another year, it won’t be much in the scheme of things.

We ain’t a charity. Club proved that with the box.

We’ve been good with players when injured though and it shows we look after people to prospective signings. The box is a different part of the business although I don’t agree with the decision.

Never existed. Never have never will. The French forward who came on trial with us in the PL wanted a deal like that as his career had been decimated by injury. Black lad ex Fulham, Man Utd and a full French international. Bloody good player when fit but I can never remember his name.

I've never understood the hype over him. Sometimes feel a bit guilty as I've been quite vocal about it on here etc and feel like I'm singling him out but find it a bit bizarre.

In his first season here he played a couple of untelevised League Cup games, came off the bench against Bolton then played 90 minutes against a dreadful Cheltenham team at left back. That was him done for the season.

People at the time hyped him up. When I questioned how you could judge him on so little I remember being told 'but you should have seen him against Wigan in the cup...'

The following season he played 90 against Birmingham and looked decent, though understandably rusty, then made a couple of cameos in the play offs.

He finally got a run of games the following season and looked quite good, but his run was limited to something like 19 appearances, not all of them starts and not all of them good performances - was it Blackburn away where he got mauled in the first half and had to switch to the opposite side at half time? Not denying he looked good overall during that run but at the same time, Cirkin had a similar run in the first half of last season where he looked outstanding and a Premier League player in waiting then his form dropped off a cliff in the second half of the season. Point being - playing well for half a season in the Championship is nowhere near enough to judge a player on.

But since then I've seen people claim he was easily a top 10 Premier League player and was our Player of the Season when, for starters, Jack Clarke was tearing the league up and carrying us through games at the same time.

I just don't get it. He's got a bit of pace and quick feet but we haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to judge his level. Hume has nearly 170 appearances at Championship and Premier League level, is ever present this season, played in numerous positions and probably had less than a dozen poor games - he's already 2nd, possibly 3rd choice right back.

Looked a real player when he finally got over his back injuries and came into the team, then his ACL went then it went again and he's gone from looking like a player that could step up to premier league to a League 1 standard.

Such a shame for the lad.
Alese in the same category

That’s my point. We didn’t see a lot of him but based on what I saw I thought he could be a good player.
