Iraola not going to Bilbao.

I'm not advocating getting shot of Regis at all, but IF KLD brought Iraola in to replace him, I'd find it hard to be disappointed.

It would be very harsh on RLB I know, but we've been ruthless with player recruitment and in other areas of the club. I wouldn't be surprised if we're always looking at HC's who fit the bill to take us further too
My only issue with it would be soon as Man Utd fuck Carrick off there’s a high chance we would be manager less. I m not a huge fan of Régis ball at times and I have been critical of it. Would I replace him though. In all honesty. No

Well, for that scenario to happen, it would mean he'd have to be doing a fantastic job here, and would have us in a position where top clubs have taken notice.

I don't think you need to be worried about something like that as if he'd leave us in a higher position, then there would be plenty of suitors lining up to replace him.

Personally, I think he's an upgrade on Regis, and I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a discussion at board level about Iraola, as good HC's a rarely unattached and available.

I was pretty vocal at the time that United shouldn't be giving Carrick the job, but I actually really enjoy watching his Man United side play to the point I think they should just give it to him. Not sure how much a relatively untested at the top Iraola would actually be able to improve them, but Carrick is getting a tune out certain players in the side.
But is he just a re-run of Ole?
Clearly he can coach a bit but he wasn't able to get Boro out of their usual performance range and United have already burned through vastly more experienced coaches than him .

He could well be, that was definitely my first thought when it was announced. Like you allude to, Carrick did an okay job at Boro in a league that can eat through managers, think Frank Lampard has proven to be a better manager at that level mind. I do think Carrick at Boro is better than the experience Ole had in English football off the bat mind.

I think we've seen a variety of managers come in and fail there, if an Emery was available I'd be tempted by him, but outside of that the top three in odds are Glasner, Iraola, and Nagelsmann, who I'm not sure would be definite improvements on how United are playing now. Main factor would be sorting the recruitment out, which to be fair looked a lot better for them this season. I enjoy watching Bournemouth mind, think Palace have been relatively poor this year, and Nagelsmann has managed to win with Bayern, but it's almost harder not to there.

(views liable to change if he goes on like a tit on Saturday mind, strong chance Iraola being a whinging twat earlier in the season is clouding my judgement  )

Carrick has only done well due to going back to basics, and away from Amorim's confusing tactics.

He'll sharp get found out next season and the merry-go-round will start up again.
Both Rooney and Neville have said in recent podcasts that they are not really convinced that Carrick will take the job when/if he’s offered it. Both reckon he would be happier in an assistant role.
If that’s really the case then Man Utd should be speaking to Iraola to see if he would be prepared to keep Carrick on as assistant manager.

I'd be amazed if KLD didn't at least try and have a conversation with him. He is one of maybe a handful of managers I could see him sacking RLB for this summer.
What makes you think he’s better than le bris like we gave spent less been in the prem less time and relatively been around them thst suggests to mr le bris maybe better he started with a far worse team

He’s got Man Utd overachieving they are higher than they should be with the defence they have

Many of United's underlying numbers are actually worse under Carrick than Amiron.

I know what the response will be to that on here, but they'd be absolutely insane to appoint him if they can get someone like Iraola instead.

I don't think you can offer someone a job, but then stipulate who their assistant manager will be. Could be trouble from the start doing that.

Carrick has some credit in the bank, but I'm not sure he could just pick and choose which job he wants.

Agree with this. They have good players who were unhappy with the outgoing manager. Fernandes although a whiney little bitch is superb when played in his proper position. For me he didn’t have to do much other than take the shackles off. Don’t get me wrong I think the majority of ex players who are pundits are a part of the problem there. However I do agree with them on Carrick.

he’s had a good season fair enough but Howe had plenty of them aswell. Just because he’s basque doesn’t make him some CL level manager. He’s done very little over his career
