Marcus North England Selector

Is there anyone around who has a knowledge of local NE and county cricket and would understand the need to develop local players?

What about:
Paul Collingwood
Dale Benkinstein
Graeme Onions

I'm not sure if they would be interested mind (I've got doubts about all of those). It's going to be interesting.
Big Ottis two T's

A quick Google of various articles that came out last year around why he's currently not with the England setup (pretty sure a thread on here was deleted at the time so won't repost it) suggests it might be wise for Durham to stay clear of him for the time being.

I know exactly of what you're talking about. Still won't retract my comment that Collingwood will be next after North. Bookmark this.

Yeh,it's a pity - 4 or 5 years ago I would have regarded him as the dream appointment.
Divo nowadays, for me. He and Benks recreate the glory days.

For what it's worth I would love to see Di Venuto back at the club. I've got a lot of time for Sir Ian Botham as well, thought he did a wonderful job at the club.

See what happens I guess.

Yup. I'd be appalled if we appointed him but as you say we'll see.
I'm in a close circle of friends with one of his ex wife's immediate family and as far as I'm aware, Vicky has recently told said family member that PC will be back involved in cricket by the end of this season. He'd been told to lie low for a while which he has done whilst all the legal stuff was getting sorted. North getting the England selectors job now is in the same time frame and he's been bjng chats with Durham.

Onions hasn't impressed me at all in his current role never mind being made Director Of Cricket.

Can't agree. He appointed North although his name undoubtedly helped in gaining sponsorship deals.Wouldn't mind Geoff Cook back in some advisory role

Yeah I get that bit but I thought he helped raise the profile of the club massively when we were right in the crap.

I'd walk over broken glass to bring MDV back to the club though
