Coventry

Good question.

We have several players that should be playing above Championship level but the jump up to the Prem is massive. Expect Rudoni to have a good season. Has been playing with an injury for the last 18 months but had an operation the day after we confirmed the Championship title. Expected to be back during pre season. Onyeka is proven at Prem level. If we manage to get Rushworth he is easily good enough.

Then you come to other players like Mason-Clark and Sakamoto that have been beating players for fun that will have a big part to play if good enough. Our 1st team will be good enough for squad players minimum. Wright and Simms will score goals but not as many. MVE as RB will surprise a few with his attacking and pace, but he will be needed more for defensive duties.

We're going to be more about a good close squad more than outstanding players. Our attacking play is quick with all of our players capable of scoring. We've just had 5 players score 10 goals or more each. Torp is now fit and keeps scoring worldies that no GK would save. He doesn't like shooting closer than 25 yards 😁

We've just had the best defence as well as the best attack. GD of +52 over the season isn't too shabby. But I have more confidence going forward than with the defence. If we don't strengthen our defence we will be in for a long hard season.
Having only seen Simms play on a regular basis I really think he would struggle against PL defences

Burnley were GD +53 and 100 points last season. Dont think they've been above 19th this term. Players that look brilliant in the championship doesn't appear to mean much in the PL.

Onyeka has been loaned out twice last 2 seasons at Brentford, he's had one okish season in the prem, the other times he was a bench warmer, I think you are being kind saying prem proven.

I kind of agree, but he has improved no end this season. Look at his last game. Perfect header for his 1st, predator goal for his second then an excellent strike for his 3rd. Averaged 124 MPG this season. He isn't going to run past players to score, but at 6'4" he is good in the box and also has a sweet strike. Has scored a few excellent goals this season.

Maybe. Most wrote off another Everton lad, DCL. He's 8th top scorer in the league with Leeds.

Im not doing a Rodney marsh & a Skp prediction about Simms 😉

This feels a little over optimistic. A 'good close squad' rarely cuts it in the Premier League anymore, it's essentially what Burnley had this season.

I don't disagree. You will see from my posts.

But Burnley? They went up because of their defence. They only scored 69 goals all season to get them 100 points. Their defence was always going to concede many more and they were going to score many less.

For me considering his size I didn’t think he used his physicality well or was good in the air. He may have improved since though obviously.
What impressed me was his awareness and movement in and around the box, seemed to know where to be when it came in, which seemed quite instinctive.

They sold most of their defence when they got promoted. One thing you have to realise with the prem nowadays is, nothing your team has done this season matters, it literally counts for nothing going into next season

He was their first signing in the Prem and a big reason they survived the first season. Since then they have spent an absolute fortune on midfield.

He is still a very good player. He isn't one of the best Prem players otherwise he wouldn't be with us. But he will be there on merit. Look at the run we've had since signing him. First game was against Middlesbrough. Is a great link between defence and AM.

It’s tends to be being a strong defensive unit that gives a chance of staying up in the premier league.

Yours is weak as piss apart from your right back but his main strength is going forward. Your midfield and attack will not cut it in the prem.

You’ll be lucky to get 20 points.

Has become a different player in the last 18 months under Lampard just like several of our attacking players. I fully agree with his size and strength, but this has also improved. He has scored goals this season where we've been surprised ourselves 😂

He wasn't a big reason, he only played 20 games in their first season. Big reason don't think so. He's only ever started 31 matches in the prem

I know that 😂

But on our side we have confidence and scoring goals all over the place. Strikes that would normally get GOTS haven't even made the list. We will score goals but let in even more.

One big point for us is keeping Rushworth. Player of the season for the Championship. Keep him and we have a chance.

Leeds scored 95 last season. They've strengthened and spent over £100M and also added DCL on a free transfer. They've scored 45 this season.

We'll be looking at our usual 6 points off yourselves for starters 😂

But on a more serious note do you normally make such predictions when you have no idea which players will be involved? Were you one of the many that thought we wouldn't get promoted?
