More time on the pitch for Mayenda

damthedam

Goalkeeper
Out top scorer only has 6 goals and although he does an amazing job helping the team move up the pitch he does miss some chances and does not stretch defences! is it time for Mayenda to get more playing time ?

Le Bris and his staff meticulously prepare for each game, considering the relative strengths of our players and the ways we can potentially expose any opposition weaknesses. It’s telling that even though Brobbey’s goal scoring exploits aren’t exactly prolific, they’ve recently turned to Isidor as Brobbey’s understudy.

Presumably they haven’t seen enough from Mayenda in training to suggest he’s going to affect games at this level.

Can I just say too, there is a good chance Brobbey could get 20 goals next season if our team improves in certain ways. He needed a few months to get fit and then up to speed. He has had great games where he hasn't scored.

He has missed chances but Igor Thiago has missed plenty sitters this season too. Its the nature of being human.

Mayenda is a long way from starting up top I think. But it’s surprising to me he’s not got more mins off the bench. Against Wolves fresh legs running directly at them would have been a new problem for the to worry about and the lad has a goal in him. And whilst Forest was a debacle why did we only make 2 subs, surely we could have given the lad at least 30 mins that day.

I suspect a loan is coming for Mayenda especially if we bring in a new striker for Wilson in the window.

Tin hat on here...Not for me. The lad needs a rocket up his arse imo. He had a chance to stake a claim for a starting place at Bournemouth and Leeds...the lad didn't break sweat. He offered absolutely nothing. His work rate was shocking imo. He should have been busting a gut. Le Bris obviously seen this aswel.

When Mayenda and Isidor are on the pitch we rarely play to their strengths tbh. When Le Fee is central and we play balls in behind then either of them would be able to play up top, look at late on at Villa when we were doing that for example. Frustrates me when Isidor or Mayenda plays and we still lob balls up there expecting them to hold it the way Brobbey does as it's not what either of them are suited to do. I get why Brobbey starts, but if he's having a bad game or we need to change things up then we need to be better at adapting how we play to suit the strengths of the strikers we have.

Not sure if the word meticulously still applies certainly in the past 8 or so games.
The 5 nil home DRUBBING by relegation threatened ( 4 of them before half time ) suggests something is amiss, certainly defensively. That referee and that player in Wolves game were involved in a red just a week or so ago. Didn’t anyone tell Ballard?
The defensive LAPSE that led to Wolves equalizer was unforgivable
We are set up in the first instance not to lose and our survival and number of points says that has worked. The football however is awful on the eye and I don’t see Mayenda, Isidor or whoever changing that right now
As others have speculated there could be a correlation between Vulcano going and Braine/Proctor being part of RLB’s ‘brain trust’.
Just sayin

We dont really play in a way that allows cfs to flourish, no matter they type of cf. Its only towards the end of games when things are a bit stretched do we seem to make incisive passes.

Mayenda suffers from the same issues as a lot of our signings from that era. There's raw talent in there but lacks key attributes needed to play the role. He's great at picking the ball up from deep and running at defenders but struggles to hold the ball up and bring others into play. He's looked good at times playing wide or off another striker but doesn't press or track back. Not writing him off as there's definitely talent in there but I'm struggling to see where he fits in. A loan to play regularly at a decent level is a must.

He definitely has something, but you've got to think it must be his attitude or lack of effort in training that's seen him missing out on game time.

He's played on the right a number of times for us last season and has really good close control of the ball, so you'd have thought he would have been a shoe in when we've been missing a right winger for so long, but nope.

I don't see the lad being here next season. A loan would be beneficial for both parties, but I also wouldn't be surprised if a few offers come in from the likes of the promoted/relegated sides like Ipswich or Wolves on a permanent deal.

Started the season as our number 9 and it was his shirt to lose. Has had plenty chances since and has offered very little.
However, wouldn’t give up on him yet, maybe needs a loan next season

Agree on brobbey, this is him getting his fitness up and getting use to a new league. If we get runners off him and a winger with a bit more experience I reckon he will easily get 15 next year.

I don’t think Le Bris’ approach will have changed. I think there’s a number of things that have contributed to recent results / performances, including a lack of intensity and the onset of complacency against Forest.

I do think KLD and the wider ownership have demonstrated that they look for continual improvement and I don’t see them settling on ‘staying up’ as the target next season.

With this in mind I think we’ll see an upgrade in quality across coaching staff and players this summer.

I swear im missing all these chances that Brobbey is fluffing.
There not big chances but his shots when he does have them aren't great either he is what he is.

As for mayenda getting more time thats not going to happen unless no other options.
