Durham v Middlesex [A] C.C. 1/5/26

Yep questioning views on a forum it's how a forum works I've barely interacted with poster you mention.so you don't post opposing views you just ignore people or agree.

I think the general feeling is that you are somewhat of a contrarian, which isn’t necessarily the issue, it’s that you don’t offer anything by way of reasoning as to why.

By all means disagree, but tell people why you hold the views you hold. THAT is how a forum works, not the short and snappy sniping.

Me and @Parkside have had some pretty impassioned discussions over the past week on this forum on a variety of topics, there are many things we are vehemently opposed on. There have been pages and pages of back and forth and no quarter has been given and largely neither of us have changed one another’s viewpoints. However, what’s important is that we’ve done it mostly in a respectful way and it’s been largely civil. As a result I’m of the opinion that he’s one of the best posters on here.

Disagree by all means, but back up your points or it just seems like you’re on a wind up.

The issue I have is I did justify about Aldridge in different format and why I thought his dismissal was fair enough, I get asked to literally "justify" even when I do and that isn't used with any other poster to me that's a bit prevocative when it's not used with anyone else and when I have gave reasons for certain views.

Hopefully we declare first thing in the morning and have a go at them. Even though the pitch still looks like a road there's always a chance Middlesex could get themselves stuck with negative batting, especially with early wickets.

The nature of this wicket would completely have to change overnight to offer us any prospect of a victory IMO. It's going to be 19 degrees and sunny in London tomorrow morning so atmospherics are unlikely to assist either. The question here is whether you risk your strike bowlers for a one in ten chance of a result.

Back to this game; I don’t mind at all the decision to bat on today, we’ve got the lead to three figures and it’ll let the bowlers have another night in bed before they have to stick their bowling boots on again.

Declare in the morning and go hard at them for two sessions, with the lead we have it gives us the opportunity to apply some pressure if we can take wickets at regular intervals. Obviously the draw is the massive favourite, but credit needs to be given to the lads today (and last night) for taking complete control of the game and ensuring we’ll be heading back up the A1 with a minimum of 14 points.

Potts, Raine, Aldridge and Robinson can all have two good spells each tomorrow and all it’ll take is one brilliant spell of bowling and the game is alive for us. If nothing is doing get Parky and Clarky on and offer the handshake at 16:50.

As I said above, we’ve got the opportunity of a ‘free hit’ at them tomorrow morning at the least. Who knows, one excellent spell and a couple of bad shots and the pressure might get to them.

i guess the only logical(?) reason is that Middlesex are bound to get at least 120+ you'd think, so we'd have to bat again anyway if we by some chance skittle them out cheaply. Maybe there is a mental reason that 150 looks tricky to a batting team whereas 100 isn't. Alternatively.....Moyes Out!
