Forthcoming gigs.

Charlatans tonight, can anyone advise where’s best to park for the City Hall? There’s a carpark right next to it but surmise will be full by time I get there.
May be a combo of me being an owld misery and not particularly liking driving at night but it's the park and ride for me these days into Newcastle.

I'd recommend this. Three minutes walk to City Hall and I've never known it full. Not sure many know about it as you don't drive past it and you need to know it's there.

Got Kraftwerk and Belle Chen in a few weeks. Looks like I'll have to knock them on the head. Got the worst case of sciatica I've ever had. Can't sit at all and just starting to walk around the house for a while at best. Gutted.
Quite fancied Belle Chen just to hear something a bit different.

Next up for me is a nice bit of Bluesy Soul from Robert Finley.

Bit late now mate the gigs finished and I’m home

Tried the one next to the city hall but was full so my back up at Sandyford Square was absolutely fine. First time I’ve driven to Newcastle solo and it was fine so wouldn’t have any issue doing it again.

Were they good mate? Saw them last time they were there and really enjoyed it 👍

I went by public transport (ironically as I only had 1 pint) .. my own fault as I hadn't checked what transport was on, and ended up getting the 56 bus there, which is nice if you like seeing much of Washington, Springwell, Wrekenton, Gateshead. Got the rail replacement bus back which was even worse. Oh and wandering round Newcastle to find rail replacement buses when it was full of pissed party animals was a mare too

The band were good, 3rd time I've seen em this year. A lot of Charlatans devotees there, but they've got lots of young fans too, who often discovered them through parents etc

Fair enough. I wasn't sure how they'd come across in a big venue.
Yeah it might have been that mind, was a bit big for that kind of sound.

Ah shit, if I’d known you could have jumped back in with me. I normally park at Heworth then metro in from there but thankfully read on Saturday night the whole system is down from 2030.

First time I’ve seen them in years, really thought they were great.

Lass in front of me near the front was either a Charlatans superfan or off her heed on drink or drugs...possibly both

Saw The Twilight Sad last night at the Boiler Shop. They were brilliant but sadly the drummer felt the need to take to the stage wearing a filthy gravy stained barcode top
She didn’t wear it when she played on drums for Benefits at Pop Recs a couple of years ago 😆. Still it was a cracking gig . Long time since I’ve seen a crowd so immersed and taking in the show . Great frontman .

Canny little venue the Grove, M60 were superb as always.
Anyway onto next ones;
Friday night instore(?) Sheffield, Rev and the Makers - love Jon McClure like,
Sat night, Unbelievably on the day we play Man U at home, im at Victoria in Manchester next to Old Trafford to see Royston Club

Biffy smashed it last night, as per, as did Sugar the night before. A little odd seeing Biffy without James and as a 5 piece, but they sounded very good. Sugar had some guest vocalists for the final 3 songs, including Craig Finn for Helpless. Looking forward to seeing them again in London in a couple of weeks!
