Poor 2nd Half of Season Myth

Picked up 19 points from the last 17 games.

Averages to 42 points over a season, which would be looking at around a 16th place finish most Premier league seasons.

For a newly promoted team via the playoffs as well, that outcome is still a fantastic achievement and benchmark.

Think a lot of people are being blinded by how good a start we had (28 points from 18 games, 1 loss in the first 11 games) and the fact that we've had 8 defeats in the last 15, so been beaten every other week - (we've not drawn many games)- but normally had a win to bounce back.

2nd half of the season is poor compared to the 1st half but still a hugely successful season overall.

2nd half of the season has had it's ups and not been awful but we've had some shocking performances mixed in with he good ones.

Think the first half of the season even when losing for the most part we looked more capable.

But it's our first season up, young players, were gonna tire and we don't have squad depth. Lack of experience shown at times and missed Xhaka badly when he was injured as well as other injuries problems.

Can't complain overall, it's now a case of preparing for next season and what we can do to improve.

In both seasons under RLB, we’ve came out flying and then tailed off towards the end of the regular season. It also happened at Lorient.
I don’t know why people are getting defensive over that. It is what it is he’s still a relative rookie head coach and the data we have shows his teams normally end the season worse. Doesn’t mean we should want him out or that this season is a failure. However I would worry if we start slow next season.

Yet some want RLB out 😂

I genuinely feel that the ridiculous reaction from some on here is because they've spent the last few weeks and months winding their Mag mates up about finishing ahead of them.

In addition, they've also gotten excessively giddy about Europe.

Very short memories, especially as pretty much all of these same posters 1) didn't give us a prayer of staying up and 2) would have killed for finishing 17th.

Get used to it...42 to 52 points a season is what other Prem teams fans have to endure year on year.......your not going to get in top 4 and your hoping you just stay above that relegation dogfight......now we are in Premier it's all about enjoying been here and accepting that winning anything will be unrealistic but is the dream.

Depends what aims the owner has, if they are what are rumoured he won’t be happy to make up the numbers very long and will want to see us pushing for Europe within his timeframe.

Definitely Europe on here.

Couldn't say about mags as don't work with any vociferous ones

But the hysteria from some about not getting into Europe is really weird.

It reminded me of the promotion theory last season.
We'll never get a better chance and we have blown it

It's no myth like, we haven't been at the level since Christmas basically. Good start has made it worse mind

I never knew we had the god given right to win every game onward from boxing day. Only got Man U Everton and Chelsea to go. I think we usually pull something out of the hat from the last three games.

The second half of last season we had nothing to play for ffs. it was turgid viewing but it bloody paid off!

This season injuries are catching up to us and we lack options, that's it.
