Ballard

As he’s bending like that his hair is clearly covering his name, Ballard clearly never takes his eyes off the ball you think in a premier league game at full speed with a lad weighing 14 stone of muscle 6ft plus you can afford split seconds to see where a players hair is landing 😂 he’d be absolutely dragged over the Cole’s if he gave away a goal because he took his eye off the ball to see where his oppent hair was 😂
You can see where Ballard has hold it’s where he’d be pulling at the shirt. So either we rule football a non grabbing sport and the game is stopped every two seconds when an opponent grabs the others shirt or we use a bit of common sense here and either stop with long hair and f***ing leggings etc for outfield players or call it a foul and give a free kick. Just like a hard tackle and a foul there’s common sense that needs to be in play here that refs and football seem to have tossed out the window lately.

Bending like what? Haway man, there's defending the lads and then there's thick rimmed red and white glasses opinions and you're closer to that now or are you on a fishing trip? 🤣

As for hair covering the name, it's because his shirt has ridden up his back because Ballard is ragging the front of it down and it's also Ballard's wrist is pushing it up at the back. Ballard's grip only has hold of the hair and no shirt at all and you see his forearm is pushing up the back of the shirt. Also, at the start, watch over the left shoulder as you see his braids being pulled.

Joking aside and nee R&W glasses on, how on earth could his hair cover his name normally? Unless he snaps his neck back 90 degrees, his hair is nowhere near being long enough hair to claim that pulling a shirt is 'normal' that it would be caught. If it was then we'd see a load more 'hair pull' incidents.

The angle I watched when he’s bending before the hair pull his hair is over his name and where Ballard would normally grab an attackers shirt.

You think Ballards got time to look where his hair is or has he went to grab his shirt and grabbed his hair?.

You think he thinks I’m gonna grab his hair here? Does he grab his hair if it’s short? I’m going no on those.

We are watching what was what three seconds in real time at pace and breaking it down. Even if we somehow come to the conclusion he’s managed in that period to think he’s gonna grab his hair he doesn’t on all the footage I’ve seen take his eye off the ball. Even then a three match ban really, this needs to be looked at in the summer and I’m guessing we don’t see a red card for a hair pull next season. It’s like every season the pgmol or whatever it’s called gets a bee in its bonnet on what it’s going to crack down on harder and then the next season they’ve moved on to something else.

Against a unit of a striker who is backing into you whilst you are trying to focus on also winning a header.

People are giving too much sway to the forensic analysis of replays...

Apparently they both shook hands after the match so I assume their striker realised there was no real malice intended.

Very frustrating decision because we were cruising towards 3 points at 0-1 before the red card.

Complete fool to do it given this was a big talking point just a few weeks ago with that same ref. The FA even come out and said they agree it’s violent conduct and a red so the refs are going to be laser focused on it until the new talking point arrives.

What was a little comical though was Ballard's face when he suddenly realised that he had indeed got hold of his hair. That wasn't an act imho. The aerial challenge happened and was over in a split second. Ballard is doing everything he can to prevent getting nutted, while at the same time trying to clear the ball. When he came out of the challenge it was an accidental smoking gun moment. The other examples this season have been different as they appeared to all be outstretched arms reaching towards said ludicrous barnets.

Anything that leads to Cuccerella wearing a Nora Batty hair net, is fine by me.
And a mask would be better

You would have to be an idiot to think he could easily stop himself from doing what he has trained himself to do for years just because the interpretation of a rule has suddenly changed. You called him a beast and part of that is down to him grappling with attackers and coming out on top.

Let's hope they change the interpretation back again.

You have low expectations mate. We walked on the moon for fucks sake 😂😂

And if it wasnt deliberate?

Where's this "He's got hold of his shirt" come from? I didn't say owt yesterday as I coudn't be arsed and emotions are high but seeing this on MOTD this morning, it's clear Ballard only has hold of his hair. He's initially pulling it down and then pulls him to the side as if he's riding a horse and pulling up 🤣

To put the "He's got hold of the shirt" to bed, see 2nd gif below. If Ballard also had hold of his shirt then the name on the back would be distorted but you can clearly see when Ballard's hand is pulling about, the shirt stays in the same position.

In the slow mo part of the 1st gif, you can already see the tension on the braids just over his left shoulder.

This shows the pulling down and then to the side action, all while the shirt isn't grabbed in any way. Aye the rule is a shit but this wasn't a slight tug like DCL was on Cucurella recently. It's sustained holding all while pulling. If this was the other way around, we'd have a thread asking why their player wasn't sent off etc and less focus on the rule. No doubt the rule will change as more of a fuss is made about it and rightly so as it's not a red.

Shit happens but players have had long hair a while now so it's not as if it's as much an issue of common 'accidental' hair pulls as some like to think.

Yes but its in the area he'd be trying to get hold of (cuff/collar) and its a heat of the moment thing with both players barging and shuffling, its not the same as a deliberate isolated hair pull.

There's momentum to the idea of anything below the collar becomes kit/equipment.

It's ignited the debate at least and I wouldn't be surprised if they amended this rule ahead of next season.
