Tom Burwell

the reference to the costs is simple market conditions
My impression is that the work will happen when the market allows it to be an investment that makes sense financially.
its makes sense right now on a practical basis clearly for them.

And the idea that they are kicking a charity out of a box, is a bit of a strange read.
They've donated that box on a season by season basis.
We should be applauding the fact that they have been doing it, and will continue to support the charity in other ways.

At the end of the day, the success of Sunderland AFC should be the primary objective of the clubs leadership.
For us to progress there are going to be bumps in the road where not everyone is aligned.
That's life.
Every family has disagreements.

There's a lot of comments about our ownership "chasing the money" or "fleecing fans" etc. in the last couple of weeks but at the end of the day we can be a competitive club in the Premier League or a community club in the Championship. It's very difficult to do both given the revenues that Premier League clubs bring in. The things people are referencing are very small differences all things considered imo.

These people shouldn’t forget that the local demographic isn’t very affluent, and the club doesn’t have the recent history to really exploit the tourism market.

We’re a much harder sell than a lot of clubs, in terms of where it appears they want the club to go.

They don't tend to have thousands of empty seats like, it's like rocking horse shit getting two together for league games.

On the subject of the CEO, he's not here to be mates with the fans.
Any Idea why no one sits on the top tier of one of their stands?

Do we think Bruce was asked to be more ruthless like with the BL box and has said nah thats not for me

Incomes the new man to do the jobs we will all hate but in the long run will bring in more revenue

I think it can be said we are either looking to be competitive in the premier but needing to make tough decision orbe a community friendly championship club. I don’t think for what the club would save money wise would have much impact so I’m in the group who think it should have stayed as it was worth these poorly kids having the box still.

would you like some more tin foil for that hat? FFS man

I'm not sure anyone in a role such as this is ever really warmed to by fans, as there needs to be a level of ruthlessness when making calculated decisions.

Bruce, in a slightly different role admittedly, was trusted because he is a Sunderland lad and fan, so he has the 'I'm one of you' cards to play. And I must admit in the one meeting I attended where he was chair, I did like the cut of his jib.

We should be better than this. He seems to be the CEO version of Michael Beale, somebody who never will get our fans and will never be accepted.

Shame on KLD. Just because we are Premier League it doesn't mean we have to be in the Premier League of selling-out.

We are Sunderland and we are different. We ARE better than this. Surely???

We aren’t and some fans seem to be ok with that. Eye opening.

North stand is under construction and I believe it's all going to be hospitality, west stand often has tickets for troops/schools etc available.
And we don’t have to be happy when he pulls wanker tricks.
What has he done?

He's interim, wouldn't worry too much.

Given Phil Smith is relatively understated, watching his latest YT video, you get the impression he is pretty concerned with the change in direction behind the scenes.
David Jones also gave the impression of misgivings in a recent pod.
Who is left on the board to represent the town/fans/heritage? I don't see Perlman being that voice.
It's going to be a delicate path. Picking someone more likeable and relatable than Burwell will be key. He comes over as being the opposite of the fan base.
