Several counties have held a secret meeting

Ive said before that the next TV deal in 2028 is gonna be a problem for the counties and it looks like they are worried too.

Yet some fans still think the money made from the sell-off is going to save county cricket.

Is it bollox. It's going to do the opposite and true cricket fans saw this coming a mile off long before the first ever ball was bowled in this ridiculous circus of a tournament.

The only country where a franchise league has made the game less popular.

They've only themselves to blame given they voted for this in the first place. They prioritised short term cash over long term stability and it seems that cash isnt as accessible as they expected.

This narrative that the Hundred has saved county cricket is bollox. I've said this before, 17 of the 18 counties are solvent. Compare that to football where 22 of the 24 championship clubs are insolvent with huge debts.

Durham didnt send anyone to this meeting.

Obviously still has his head up the ECB's arse, begging for a franchise.

It was a secret.

Only half the counties turned up.

If it was less secret maybe more would have attended.

Fortunately, the saviours of investigative journalism the Daily Mail have uncovered the secret.

County cricket has been in financial trouble for longer than anyone posting on here has been alive.

Ssshhhh it's a secret.
There were no reports of it taking place until after the event. So it was held in secret.
How have you established this as fact?

Enquiring minds would like to know.

I'm aware of it.
That in no way clarifies how they can kill a tournament over which they don't have control.

Sanctions. If the ECB stopped the England player’s participation it would kill the competition. As would taking it off the recognised competition list.

As I say, if they really wanted to, they could make it happen.

Attempts to prevent England players being involved in IPL failed even with the introduction of central contracts. The Hundred now has the same or equally powerful owners.
ECB have sold any control over the staging of the Hundred for the pot of gold
