Durham v Middlesex [A] C.C. 1/5/26

Very poor from Durham this morning, a good hour would’ve put us in a great position but unfortunately the openers have been so wayward and we aren’t going to gain maximum bowling points.

Still have no idea what Middlesex are doing though. This is so turgid from them. So dull.

Just realised we've passed 110 overs so we'll only get two bowling points. Only 2 batting points for Middlesex.

We seem to be back to square one with our bowling now that Roach is out. It seems to be just Raine and Potts yet again supported only by back up/ chip in bowlers. Durham need to sort this, yet another key bowler goes down and its been a theme for far too long. You need at least 3 potential wicket takers before the back up and with no young bowlers from within anywhere near being classed as established ... taking 20 wickets could again become a problem.

We dont look like taking a wicket at all today.
If Middlesex keep batting at this pace then it's ok tbh.

Hopefully we bat once at a quicker rate to maximise batting points and get a draw.

Felt like it was going to be a game decided by the toss. Not many teams take on the batting like we do when we get going.

Higgins has had the physio on twice in the last 15 minutes. Clearly vulnerable to the short ball, hit on the back and on the head, Robinson looks sharp, pleasing to see (his pace and aggression, not the lad getting hurt).

They’ve batted for nearly 130 overs and still haven’t broken 3 an over. This is actually anti-cricket, what is their plan? It’ll take them until tomorrow to get to 600.

They're in charge of the match. They don't need to play Bazball, just score 600+ in the favourable batting conditions and put us in under leaden skies on Sunday and Monday.

Our lack of bowling depth has bitten us on the arse again.

I dont agree. I know that games like this can be boring but the beauty of county cricket is that it can be played virtually without restrictions or gimmicks.
There is restriction at present i.e. restriction to 4 days duration. Unfortunately, restrictions are sometimes necessary to overcome negativity.
