Tom Burwell

the reference to the costs is simple market conditions
My impression is that the work will happen when the market allows it to be an investment that makes sense financially.
its makes sense right now on a practical basis clearly for them.

And the idea that they are kicking a charity out of a box, is a bit of a strange read.
They've donated that box on a season by season basis.
We should be applauding the fact that they have been doing it, and will continue to support the charity in other ways.

At the end of the day, the success of Sunderland AFC should be the primary objective of the clubs leadership.
For us to progress there are going to be bumps in the road where not everyone is aligned.
That's life.
Every family has disagreements.
Well said!

It’s also a bit of a stretch for anyone to suggest that the thing with the box was his idea/decision. He has already said that he is more focused on making the stadium a year round destination and generating media/advertising revenues than he is in extracting a bit more from match day revenues.

He has a role which he appears to have experience in, but he has no personal connection with the area and fans. His job is to increase the income of the club as much as possible to compete with, as much as possible, the big clubs, and he doesn’t seem to care how we get there.
The fans love the club, have a huge personal connection with it and see that as something to be proud of rather than just wanting it to be an impersonal club.
Fuck that, give me an impersonal club and champions league football instead.

Ask any Man City fan if they would rather return to the days of the "personal connection" they had with Swales or Franny Lee, or the impersonal one now

which is good for fans.
But i wouldn't like to get in the way of a peoples chance to be negative on here

The man city with thousands of too expensive empty seats??
They don't tend to have thousands of empty seats like, it's like rocking horse shit getting two together for league games.

On the subject of the CEO, he's not here to be mates with the fans.

I think he's exactly what we need. Lets not forget he is interim btw.

I would have thought it is fairly obvious given this season what is needed to compete in this league. It will only ever get tougher.

Unless you want to be tin pot for ever more that is? Because lets face it, our record is pretty shite for the last god knows how many years. I've no interest in hearing about how we are a big club (in our own minds) and being a Norwich or a Burnley or a Boro, etc.

We have to do things differently going forward or we will be left behind for good.

I moan with the best of them but criticising the club around their charity work is ridiculous
believe me, there's a small but vocal minority on here who will criticise the club at any opportunity they get.
Must be a miserable existence

He's made a great first impression by selling off a box used to allow terminally ill children to watch Sunderland games to the highest bidder, without even giving them the opportunity to purchase it.

As far as introductions go, that will be hard to top.
What i was thinking tbh... if it was his decision, it's a spectacular miscalculation.

All the ones I've spoken to preferred how it was. I understand that tbh, im not particularly keen on what the chaps said so far.

Well someone must take responsibility or will it just be like the silences you get from the ticket dept etc.
I'm sure it will fall with someone, I would have thought boxes would be more at marketing sort of level.

Assuming it was him...

Cant win.

Cant compete and be charitable. If we want best for the club sadly its all about commercial revenue. It might leave a sour taste but thats modern football for you
