Troy Deeney's Team of the Week


I thought we gifted them at least 3 of their goals. I don't think Forest really had to work too hard for it, especially when the game was over in the first half.

Credit to their gaffer mind, he'd obviously done his homework, and made sure they pressed high, and got plenty of set pieces to cripple us.

Gibbs-White is in fantastic goalscoring form. He has to be selected in the World Cup if he’s fit. Anderson too should be in on form.

If Foden goes instead of either of those two, I’d be fuming.

I actually thought Sunderland were embarrassing. Troy must of taken that into consideration.

They were outstanding for me. Especially given that they are near the bottom and the away team, coming to what has proven to be a difficult ground to win at. Their manager was highly positive in his approach and they pressed us high and relentless in our own half. We made a lot of individual mistakes, but a lot of that came from their effective high press and work rate. I think it's highly unfair on them just to put it down to how bad we were. It was even more of a brilliant performance and impressive high energy levels given the number of games they are playing.

I can’t believe Gibbs White isn’t in the squad. I’m not bothered that we have a German manager in charge of the England team, my only concern is he’s clueless.

We’ve been far too complimentary of them.
We were absolutely terrible. Some comment since have exploded Forrest to work beaters.
 
I have no idea why lots of these ex players get similar jobs.

The likes of Deeney, O’Hara, Bothroyd, (to a lesser extent) Clinton Morrison all seem to get decent gigs in the media, but struggle to string two sentences together.

Deeney was answering questions on his specialist subject of Spiderman films and his mind went blank under the pressure. Nowt to do with his football knowledge. Troy has had plenty of good things to say about Sunderland in the last couple of years and I think he's okay (I'm not his Da or his Mrs 😉).
