Woltemade wants away

His best career season, at Stuttgart prior to joining the mags, that was exactly how they played him. It's also how, in the main, he's been played by the national team.

Howe has basically tried to turn him into a type of player he's never been. After his form dipped post the derby, he's threw him under a bus by either playing him completely out of position or having him on the bench. That says more about Beheaddie's inflexibility to change his team's set up than Woltemade's abilities as a footballer, for me.

They paid at least half more than his true value imho. £25-30m would have been great business, maybe even up to €40m. But his career stats, and where he's actually played, should have been enough evidence of it being a huge gamble.

He's only came into the national team picture really recently at senior level too, mostly due to injuries to the normal first choices.

Maybe. Back to Stuttgart?

But no way are the mags recouping their outlay. Plus arguably they've damaged his progress too.

This ☝️ ☝️ ☝️ times 1000.

And this ☝️☝️☝️☝️

He can hold the ball well to bring in other players, he has good footwork and can ping balls about for team mates. He also actually has a decent shot and good crossing ability. Like a few lanky players he's weirdly not great in the air challenging but does have a good header.

Imho his biggest falling so far has been adapting to the pace and physicality of the PL. He doesn't really have a burst of pace and isn't robust. Add in the inability of Howe to adapt his tactics to suit his record signing, as well as whatever else is going on behind the scenes, which sees him benched for a lot of games and I'd say he's regressed since he arrived at the Mosque on the Mound.

Is he currently a £65m PL striker? Clearly not. Is he a shite footballer and a carthorse? Clearly not.
Scored the best headed goal for us this season!!

His WC chances have taken a flogging

Very probably the next England team manager

But regarded as player of tournament in à recent U21 tournament. It was seen as good business rightly or wrongly
Not true Harvey Elliott was player of the tournament. Woltemade was 23 when he was playing in the tournament, turned 24 6 months after it. He definitely had an advantage over some of the 19 , 20 year olds in it.
It wasn't seen as good business at all, even a quick check of his career, a quick look on YouTube at his highlights would make anyone question the 70 odd million or whatever it was

In that article

'Newcastle are now actively looking to move Wissa on in the summer window, even if doing so will likely see them take a significant loss on the price they paid just eight months ago. The Athletic reported in September the deal included a 25% sell on clause.'
Sorry, not sure if they added that as wasn’t in the article when I read it the other day!

Neither of these statements are true.

He's highly thought of within the Mannschaft structure, having played at all levels. He's not broken through into the senior squad, until last summer, mostly due to who was infront of him. He got called up due to first choices being injured and has scored important goals without setting the world on fire.

He wasn't player of the tournament. He had a very good tournament up until they played England who simply got tight and marked him completely out of the game.

And it 100% wasn't viewed as good business by most. It was seen as a massive gamble, and a hugely overpriced fee, to panic buy their 5th or 6th choice. Anyone who even took a minute to view his career stats would have seen that straight away. He had one breakout season at a Stuttgart team, who played to his strengths, and overachieved as a team. He wasn't even their player of the season iirc.

Beat me to it.

I couldn't remember who was Player of the Tournament but knew it wasn't Ole St Nick.
Random club in saudi will be ordered by MBS to pay 65 million for wissa i reckon
Amended but no doubt this will happen
Theres a 25% sell on fee on Wissa too, whoever negotiated that needs to be doing all future deals for them.
Holy 💩, is this true? 🤣🤣🤣

That's got to be some of THE worst negotiations EVER! He's 29yrs old, has had 2 decent seasons in his entire career and cost £55m.

Did Beheddie's nephew expect his uncle to turn him into George Best?
Can see a promoted team taking him on loan for a season
But only if a substantial amount of his wages are being covered by the mags shirley?

£100k+ a week is a big chunk at any club but more so you'd think for a newly promoted club to pull out on a 29yr old.
Best part of £200k per week on Woltemade and Wissa
Might even be more.

If Wissa who cost £55m is on £100k+, then you'd think Woltemade who cost £67m would be on a little bit more.

Could be nearer £250k for the two of them. Maybe even £350k+ when you include Elanga, another £55m purchase. 🤔🤔🤔🫣🫣
Think Bayern would be a great move for Woltemade

He is a "9 and a half", and he gets to study, work with and succeed the world's best player in that role playing in his last few seasons there.

At the right price, a great move for both Bayern and for Woltemade
This ☝️ ☝️ ☝️

This was exactly why Buy'em were planning on doing just before the mags gazumped them. But they knew his real value and wouldn't have had their pants pulled down by Stuttgart.

They love having the (potentially) next big star for the Mannschaft in their squad, plays upto their Biggest Club in Germany shtick.

It can't be considered good business like, he's probably on £6-7m per year minimum as well. Even at the time it looked inflated, he'd have to reach Isak-type heights for that to be good business.

Meanwhile Brobbey is the same age and cost less than a third of what Woltemade did. He's also a better footballer, that's good business.
