Woltemade wants away

I watched/watch a lot of Bundesliga. He had the best ever season of his career by a countrymile for Stuttgart and even then wasn't their best player. Most improved? Maybe given where he was when he arrived.

When the mags first signed him I was surprised they even had him as a target and aghast that they'd been absolutely dry bummed by Stuttgart in terms of the fee.

Had they got him for half the cost and stated that he was being gradually brought into the first team, no pressure, work in progress etc, then it would have been better for all concerned.
Even with it played to his feet, he often isn't strong enough to hold it up.

There's a reason that he's been spending a lot of time on the bench.

I didn’t know he was 24 like, thought he was younger. Two years older than Jude Bellingham
I didn’t realise this either. Presumed he was much younger given he played in the U21 Euros last summer.

Makes the transfer fee even more outrageous when you look at his playing history. He played less than 50 times for Werder Bremen in 4 years and spent some time on loan to the German third division. He moved to Stuttgart and had a good breakout season there and the mags paid a huge fee on the back of one good season in 7 years of professional football.

1st season in what's clearly a faster, and far more physically competitive, league. But yeah he seems to get caught on the ball a lot.

Plus this is a mile higher level than he's ever played in previously. Bundesliga.2 before he went to Stuttgart.

I also think that his purple patch when he arrived was a lot to do with his confidence being very high and really trying to impress. Add in defenders not being aware of his game. Mind I think the bench warming isn't necessarily all down to him. A big part of it is Beheaddie's stubborn refusal to adapt the team set up to his players.

He barely qualified for U21s when the contest started. Had a canny good tournament until he came up against England, who got tight and marked him out of the game.
