Durham v Lancashire [H] C.C. 24/4/26


Our back up bowling to Raine and Potts is just so very substandard to have the old boys of sick note and Jones comeback and look like class batsman is annoying.
I think we could be scuttled out quite quickly tomorrow because our topline batters are very brittle and I don't think we will be saved by a Potts and Parky salvage act tomorrow

I recall him chasing one at mid-on or mid-off and did, I think, some sort of attempted slide. It was like a forklift truck dropping a load of bags of cement,

I would say the opposite but with the same result. Ultra-cautious. Lees and McKinney won't get into double figures. Lancs will soon sniff out we aren't interested and there will be enough play to allow them to win. I hope I am spectacularly wrong.
 
Feel somewhat vindicated by what I said last night; The pitch has been good for batting throughout when the sun has shone. When it has been overcast has been when the batsmen have had the most difficulty. It’s clearly a ‘new ball pitch’ given that each team has lost wickets early but enjoyed lower order partnerships once the ball has got older.

If the rain doesn’t help us tomorrow, we’ll need to break the habit of a lifetime and dig in early doors. It’s no good going out all guns blazing against their new ball bowlers. Focus on survival in the first session, hell I’d bite your hand off now for 40-0 from 30 overs :lol:. Get their lads into their second/third spells and we can make hay in the afternoon when they start to tire and the ball has gone soft.

We can’t win the game tomorrow before lunch, but we can sure as hell lose it.

Yeh,the term is "play cricket" but that requires good technique and game plan both terms becoming obsolete.

To me the highlight of the match has been Coughlins hundred which required a lot of application and skill especially as he is Made in Durham.Looks like he is benefitting from a change in management.

Looking forward to today's play. Win, lose or draw for me this has been a good match to watch. Something for the bowlers and batters which will make the final day a good one with all results still on. It seemed like someone threw a switch when Coggers came out to bat. From going nowhere and digging themselves into a hole then that innings turning the match on its head is what for us makes the 4 day game.
 
Met Office forecast has 80-90% chance of precipitation this afternoon. Suspect it might be on/off rather than constant.
 
It is fairly dark but the lights are on. There have bben some huge black clouds drifting over but they are quite high. Now it's just dull but with no imminent prospect of rain
