Race For Europe

A win tonight would put us right in the mix.
I'd happily take the shot at it if it comes along - don't know when the chance comes up again.
Obviously make next season tougher but would have to trust there's a plan in place to make a fist of it.

Next two games present a big opportunity to put ourselves into a fantastic position ahead of what could essentially be European playoffs against Everton and Chelsea.

Obviously there’s no easy games at this level but a home game against a side fighting relegation and an away trip to a side already relegated would be up there if you got a chance to hand pick your games.

We all know ‘the old Sunderland’ would draw tonight and lose at Wolves but this group are writing history imo.

It looks like our Conference League dream is in tatters.

Unless we beat Wolves and Man United. Crunch time now but hopes are fading.
After other results today we need Man U to do us a favour tomorrow night. The Conference League is still possible.

Frustrating thing is both EFC & SAFC have been around top 8 all season but both have bottled it with 3 defeats each in the last 5 games.

Ties in to my belief that both Moyes & RLBs safety first style has held us back at the crunch whereas brave bold brass outfits like Bournemouth and Brighton have just taken the hand break off at the right moment.

From our POV it had to be safety first this season. No other option really, we have been more open recently and shipped too many goals so maybe the safety first approach has served us well.

It seems like once safety was pretty much secured we have lost the intensity and results have dipped.

Yet if we beat Wovles we are still right in the mix for top 8 and a favourable result for Everton next match will be the same for you.

It is so tight in the middle pack who knows.

Problem is we also have to probably beat two of Man U, Everton and Chelsea

An FA Cup final between the 2 biggest cheats in football history. Oh joy.

At least it's given 8th a place in Europe so there's still a chance of SAFC can get their act together.

Both Everton and Chelsea are teams around us at the moment so who knows?

I wouldn't even be that shocked if we played a blinder against Man U at home. We've had a few very bad results this season but also mixed it with the top teams.

If we can up the intensity again anything is possible.
