Its been a fanatastic performance by us this season to be where we are. Last year when we finished 4th we were nearer to 17th place in points than we were to the top two. Nobody gave us a prayer. We were there to make up the numbers and the only issue really was whether we could be vaguely competitive. Could we be as good as Ipswich the season before maybe? We spent good money but that in itself did no more than give us a glimmer. The squads of Burnley and Leeds had far stronger starting positions having been in the premier league the season before their promotion and still spending 100mill on top of that.

We decided on a system of play and we bought players perfect for that system of play. Defensive, attritional, low block, minimise space, limit chances to the opposition. But its never good enough for some. The quality of the football is 'shite' we need to play more progressive football and even the managers position being questioned by some. We have seen in the last 2 games why we don't play more progressive football with our current players - they aren't good enough and weren't bought with it in mind. Next season i dont want us making significant changes to what we have done this season. Evolution not revolution. Buying players to imporve the quality but keep broadly the same system and we can improve even more.

I’ve seen some doghsit over the years and I’ve been comfortable calling out that shite relentlessly (including the current chairmen when I didn’t think he had the best intentions) but fuck me, booing them after one shocking performance at home this season was nothing short of disgraceful. I don’t align myself to any of you fuckers who did that. Wankers.

At last I’ve found someone in the wilderness talking sense.

I referenced earlier Alan Durban who we binned whilst an established top league team, playing conservative football.

We ended up in the third division as a direct consequence.

RLB is trying a few things and we are all over the place. Hopefully they take on board what you say

The returning fans who weren't there when things were utterly shite.

Didn’t do it myself but it’s the worst ever result at the Sol score wise. It was absolutely shite that first half, embarrassing at times we struggled to pass to each other. Just don’t understand wtf happened, while I didn’t boo and agree it’s a bit mad given the season emotions run high at times and that first half was a shocker.

I was one of not many clapping the players off at full time the knars

any promoted team playing expansive football ends the same way, dont know why this is a shock to anyone. Brighton's first 3 seasons back they scored 34,35 and 39 so we are already past the their first 2 seasons in terms of goals scored

pissed as a fart so feel free to shoot the facts down if incorrect

Excellent post.

Le Bris has done a brilliant job. How he managed to assemble a functioning team given what 13 new players in such a short space of time is brilliant. He turned perceived wisdom on its head by comfortably avoiding the drop whilst also providing a derby double and notable scalps like Chelsea, commendable draws with Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Throwing the baby out with the bath water could see us bring in a hipster coach who’ll be here and gone within a few months trying to entertain in the toughest league in the world.

Mate we had 38k in that last season of league one with an average away following of a few hundred at times, with the sell out away ends there’s not that many returning fans that weren’t in the 38k in league one and 41k in the championship. Not as if we’ve found 20k new fans down the back of the couch 😂
I don't agree.
You're talking about the turn around when we actually looked liked we were getting out of L1/Div3. What were the figures when we first dropped? Sure iirc we had around 30k first season in L1/Div3. Plus the 'fans' were falling away as we dropped out of PL and through the Championship.

Get to playoffs and every fucker and his dog is wanting to go to Wembley. Get promoted and suddenly we're filling the ground, tickets are harder to come by and there's a waiting list.

It will be the same people booing who jumped ship.

And just for clarity last night was a shit show all round. But you take your medicine and come back for the next ones.

Of course. 4 or 5 of consecutive performances similar to that may have warranted that reaction but not on the back of the season we’ve had.

On a dude note, I do sometimes leave before the end, however, I found that staying right until the end and singing as loud as I could was perversely energising.

Ha’way The f***ing Lads.

It was shocking and shite.

Every team has one awful blip in their season.

Bloke in front of me when we were confronting blokes booing summed it up

“Fuck me man we’ve had many far worse days and some of them very recently, we’re currently the 12th best team in the country ffs”

Think those two were what we averaged the last season in league one and the last season in the championship.

A dude note? Fucks sake, that was meant to say separate note 😂
