Summer evolution, not revolution

My worry is needing a massive overhaul again in the summer. Players will sold, some will be surplus to requirements and some will probably want to leave.

I agree but it’s also the wrong decision. He clearly isn’t good enough. I get he’s young etc but it’s an intelligence thing for me, rather than ability. He’s thick as fuck

For me -

A new CB. Ballard and Alderete have been a great pairing this season but there’s little competition for their place. I’d like someone to come in and challenge them for a starting berth.

A new RB - Hume is a perfectly able defensive RB, but he offers very little going forward. When you see someone like Jiminez at Bournemouth or Munoz at Palace, that’s the level of player I’d like to see competing with Mukiele.

LB - Someone to directly challenge Reinildo.

A new CDM - Xhaka’s quality has never been in doubt. We struggled without him when he was injured and even he is allowed the odd poor game. He won’t be able to play 40+ games next season either.

Winger - hopefully Adingra will be sold. Angulo, Talbi, Mundle & Ta Bi are all work in progress, but I’d like us to go and sign a really first rate winger who is good 1v1, can beat a man and cut in or go outside. Rayan cost Bournemouth £35m. That kind of level.

Creative midfielder - As it stands ELF is our most creative player and we need someone to push him on, challenge him but also share the load.

Strikers - Obviously the hardest position to get right, and a lot of who you buy to play up front is dictated by the style of play you want.

I could see us moving on more than that.

If Roefs is staying you’d imagine we will sell Patterson. I’d imagine Young will go out on another loan.

Cirkin, O’Nien, Geertruida, Browne, Jones, Isidor, Mayenda, Adingra, Traore, will all leave in one way or another.

I’m not convinced Brobbey will be here. Not sure if it’s just his personality but he never looks entirely comfortable. Hes also been linked elsewhere. Is he the sort of striker we need for our style of play? Hes been great but not sure he is.

We just need more quality and players with experience. Diarra and Sadiki are early 20s, Rigg 18, Talbi 20. That’s a lot asked of players who are in the very early stages of their career and three who are having their first time playing in the Premier League.

We don’t need to rip it all up and start again, but I think there is significant work to be done to allow us to go again.
 
That relies on rlb actually using subs. Even when we have decent options he seems reluctant to change and trusts the 11 he picked to start to see most the game out no matter what

Last year that was the case when our options of the bench were usually much weaker than our starters. This season it wasn’t at all until Afcon and the injury crisis afterwards when we had the likes of Jones x 3 on the bench and now it isn’t again.

Know him personally, had a good chat, given him an IQ test? I'd suggesr that the one whose thick, might live in your mirror.
 
I don't think we need that many.

We defo need a LB of Cirkin is off.

A ready made, experienced Right winger is a must.

A DCM to rotate with Xhaka.

Another striker, but it's difficult as playing with only 1 up top will always mean keeping Brobbey and whoever else happy with game time, something he's not managed well with Wilson and Mayenda, even when we've needed goals to get back into games.

Particularly under SCR. Transfer losses just reduce your spending limit. Given the normal length of contracts we give, a £5m loss on a player translates to a £20-25m hit to the transfer budget.

Everything e I’ve seen the lad Jiminez play he has been absolutely top quality. I agree that is the level we need in to kick on. Also I know West Ham have struggled this season bar the past few months or so but the lad

I think that Jiminez is quality as is Diouf who plays left back for West Ham. That’s levelling up.
