People say Europe is too soon but this season may have been the best chance of our lifetimes. We came close under Reid then from 2001 to now the only time we’ve had a sniff was half time in the league cup final v city and these last few weeks.

It’s an interesting dynamic when 8th - 9th can get Europe, that’s sometimes just 15 points clear of relegation.

I know it will probably not be a popular opinion but I would rather we don't get Europe this season or possibly next. I would rather we concentrated on becoming an established Premier League club and then raise our expectations. I think there are people on here who would be willing to sacrifice our Premier League status on the altar of a momentary flash of European glory but I am not one of them. Tonight was gutting but not catastrophic. The lads have done the groundwork and got us to a position that our league status is all but secured. We will get more points before the season ends. Whether that's enough for European qualification, who knows?

I get what you’re saying but that sounds like mediocrity to me which I guess we would have taken a year ago, I feel we will struggle next season anyway. I actually felt optimistic at Villa Park 3-1 down, we were great first half, then what’s happened since is inexplicable really.
