Defensive drop off

Got players like Rigg in instead of Hume. Hume offers cover, can drop as a 5 and makes Mukieke much more effective. We've also shoehorned Diarra in, sacrificing Le Fee, so we have less control.

Needs to get back to Mukieke Ballard Alderete and Reinildio. And Hume.

And settle on Le Fee OR Diarra.
It feels like since the derby win he's tried to take the handbrake off and be more attacking.
Always said the clamour for more attacking would jeopardise our defence, and what made us successful.

Agree with what RLB said on the interview there, that we can’t afford to drop our intensity by 10% because that’s a huge difference at this level.

For me, it’s all about taking tonight as a kick up the arse and making sure we’re at full tilt for the next four games. If we’re not bang at it against Wolves, it’ll be a real concern.

Correct, Mowsy. As I’ve just said elsewhere, we might see the return of the Humebrid to tighten things up.

Hopefully the past two games have woken a few up to the reality that we’re not ready to go toe to toe in open games against teams who are years ahead of us in development.

Not helping that we're playing players out of position on the wings, meaning the full backs aren't getting the support they need. Le Fee needs to be in the middle, which would solve 2 problems at once - allows a proper winger outside, and gives us actual creativity throught the middle.

I don’t think RLB can play more attacking football. He tried in a few away games, Brentford and West Ham spring to mind. Start brightly then get pumped. If these “ rumours “ about us replacing him are true he has massively failed in the last 2 games. I can and have been critical of him at times as his football can be incredibly dull when the onus is on us. However there is absolutely no denying that it’s worked for us this season, he has done a great job overall and it would be incredibly harsh if they decided to replace him.

Any thoughts from the club about replacing him will be from style of play i reckon and how its restrictive to selling players for big fees.

Can't see it happening but its bizarre hes suddenly decided to be open

Play a LB at LB. Hume was woeful on the left. How he got the 2nd half was beyond me.

We’ve gone from being dominant in our box with crosses etc to looking like a team of strangers in a defensive capacity. It’s pure speculation that he has been asked to be more expansive so no one other than the decision makers at the club know what’s going on, but for a coach who has always been safety first in his approach it does seem out of character to suddenly be gung ho and absolutely wide open. Regardless of what people think of his style of football it has worked for us.

It's pure speculation by one poster repeated across multiple threads.

We weren't 4-0 down at half time last night because we were trying to play more expensive football, it's because the defending was woeful. The first three were absolutely shocking from a defensive point of view.

We've always been capable of shipping a few goals, right through the season. Just not 5! But quite a few times we've conceded 3
