League 1 playoff winner, Championship playoff winner...very canny
The debate isn’t that. It’s where we are now.

He pulled off one of the best saves I’ve seen in the play off final. He’s clearly a good keeper.

He’s just not an ā€œelite levelā€ keeper.

In my humble opinion.

Wouldn’t have minded seeing what he was capable of while Roefs was out. Think he could have stepped up in the same way Hume and the rest did. Still young for a keeper as well. Very good at championship level and I think he can make the step up to premier league. Would be a good option for any of the promoted teams for next season if he is to leave.

Ya had a dig at him just like you did all last season...

The highlighted text is a very good assessment of him šŸ‘

So just myself personally had a dig at him all season ?

Just me ?

That aside , so what if I did.

I’m allowed an opinion , just because you don’t share it means nowt marra .

Reminds me of Ramsdale in that he can look superb on highlight reels, but then look incredibly dodgy when watching him every week. He's a great keeper, but he shouldn't be first choice for any team who is (at worst) a midtable Premier League side. He'd be a great back-up for any team in the country, but I don't blame him for wanting more than that.

The difference between him and Roefs is night and day, despite the fact it wouldn't surprise me if he pulled off similar saves to some of Roefs' best this season. The save in the final is still better than anything since, for example.

I'd love to see him kick on and he's still young enough to improve multiple areas of his game - kicking, and command of area springs to mind instantly.

Young home grown keeper, worth a few quid. Sort of fee that ā€˜could rise’ to 10/12 million I reckon.

Ellborg is nowhere near Prem ready, he is a mile off. Even if Roefs doesn't move the club needs to think carefully whats going to happen if Roefs gets an extended injury and maybe buy a keeper in for a couple of seasons.
Ellborg played 7 1st team games and a couple in Europe then Malmo bought a 1st choice keeper because he wasn't ready. Thats not that long ago if he wasn't ready for Swedish league he isn't for the prem and it shows. He could be a really good keeper in time but not now. I suspect Young isn't far off his level.
Ah yeah, I'd not factored Young in, too. Looks like we're taking the Pickford approach with him, loans building up through the leagues, so reckon he'll be in L1 or maybe Champ next season.

Ellborg has proven he's ready for Prem surely, or at least proved he's close. Played, played well, in difficult games, and made good saves and not looked out of place. He's clearly a decent keeper, and looks confident, so I agree he's young and inexperienced, I don't think he's miles off. Roefs had one season under his belt before this season, so he's a little behind that but not by much.
