Chris Rigg

Are you for real? Gerrard and Lampard are two of the best midfielders to ever play in the premier league.
Yeah they were good. Didn’t say they wernt. But not on the same level as say Zidane. And of course hyped up because of who the played for. Good players no doubt about that.

When looking at output and honours both are pretty much on par with Zidane possibly slightly better. I know he’s spoken about more on an individual basis but Gerrard and Lampard were more than just good. The only two that spring to mind that I would class as being a total level above around that time would be Xavi and Iniesta.

Zidane was better than both in my view. All about opinions I suppose. I think the point really is we can’t say whether Rigg will be as good as any of those players yet so it’s unfair to say you can’t compare him to them, unless it’s at the same age and even then players develop differently. The kid certainly has potential though.

Zidane was quite obviously a level above Gerrard and Lampard. Off you tits to think otherwise.

You tube generation man.

Everyone is either the new Messi/Ronaldo/Zidane/etc or utter shite and would struggle in L1.

The last a great player and has the potential to have a great career.

Why isn't that enough?

Do you mean when lampard and gerrard were in their prime ? Or when they were 18? Lampard for example made his West Ham debut at 18 after a few games for Swansea. Rigg has played almost 100 games.

Both Lampard and Gerrard were seen as fantastic talents as kids and it took them no time at all to become mainstays. Rigg is a cracking talent himself, but I'd still say he's some way behind them two mentioned mind.

Mentioning players like those 2 above at any age is a stretch tbh. I think he'll become a very good player if he can add some physicality in the next few seasons, but Lampard or Gerrard levels??....I don't think that will happen, he certainly won't be playing here even if he starts getting a sniff of being as close to them.

And that shouldn't be a criticism of either as they were both great players. Zidane is one of the best ever in my opinion
For sure. On top of winning the league in 2 different countries, multiple champions league finals with multiple clubs he was the key player in taking his country to 2 World Cup finals 8 years apart and a European championship winner.

I wasn’t even his biggest fan but head and shoulders above Lampard and Gerrard.

At first I will admit I rather hated the idea of playing Rigg and ELF on the wings since they seem like natural no.10s who don't have the pace you'd normally expect from wingers. Both have now shown enough in those positions now for me to think the spots are theirs to lose if Talbi, Angulo and Traore were available (and I'm a fan of those players).

The key thing is having the movement in the channels from others. The full backs are the obvious candidates for doing this but I've also been very pleased with how fluid the Sadiki and Diarra have been popping up in those areas in recent weeks. We are showing some signs of real game intelligence individually and collectively now about how to move around the pitch off the ball, rotating positions and overloading areas. It does seem RLB is empowering individuals to make those decisions. It means the likes of Rigg and ELF do not have to be conventional wingers with pace to be effective and you saw the most impactful moments from Rigg and Le Fee came from when they found themselves in from the flank (Rigg's goal, ELF's through balls for Isidor and Diarra).

More of that please!

Good lad, shittest golfer I’ve ever seen!

My mate was a lower league pro footballer and he was the best cricketer, best golfer, best snooker player, best at all sports out of all of us when we were 12-20 years old.
