Championship tell VAR to do one.

Or just sack it off and have one ref, the one on the field, referee the game as he sees it.

Has worked as close to fine as can be for 100s of years.

It's a simple game
It certainly isn’t and it worked for those years and should never been changed.

However it’s all concerned from media, players, managers and yes fans as well why it came about in the first place.

If people just accepted the way it was and accepted that sometimes you get the rough with the smooth but they didn’t they were constantly twisting.

You would never have that again given the millions in the game now.

As soon as refs start making massive errors it would be brought back again and it's the reason why it was brought in to footy in the 1st place.
Refs mistakes and players missing sitters, keepers dropping the ball were all part and parcel of the game and should not have been changed

We most likely wouldn't have been promoted if VAR didn't intervene in the play offs. In theory it's a very good thing to have. Unfortunately the knackers thag use it are totally useless the majority of the time.

Tell you what like if var rules out that Ipswich penalty against boro the league is much tighter at the top, be plenty like that throughout the season. Much rather that with the delays (and mistakes) that come with it rather than just trusting the officials
With the main ref in video room, something like that would be the ref tells main video ref "I think that's a penna". Video ref looks at it and sees how soft it it and says "No, it's not a penna as he's been pulled but he's exaggerated the movement".

Basically the main ref watches the game like we do on TV and makes the calls to correct if need be, all while play continues. If he can't make a decisionin time before the next break in play then aye he may have to call to stop play while he finishes the review (just like they do now when VAR hold up play). Big difference being they don't then drag the ref ower to watch it all again.

I'd keep VAR personally. Far too much riding on games now and the game is so fast.

The use of it is the issue.

The problem is now the money in the game though and it's quite a lot faster, along with a lot of cheating trying to fool refs. Refs mistakes will always be around no matter what as it's impossible to see everything all the time. Fans won't ever accept that and would blame refs or think it's conspiracy. However it was clear that some teams got 'favourable' decisions or that some decisions were very controversial, whereas a main ref in a video room can't give a decision to a team when it 'looks like' it's a penna as the evidence is there on the video as they've got a far better view than an on field ref with his single unique real time view.

They would be reviewed also by panels like they do now with controversial VAR decisions. The difference being, is that you'd expect most refs to go with the majority of the decisions anyway. Whereas the old way, he could be completely wrong but even with VAR they can still be wrong but then the C&O stops VAR from given the decision that the majority would give.

Bin C&O and just give the most reasonable decision and accept the some decisions may or may not go your way but at least that 'grey' area won't be as big as it is now.

VAR is a great idea.

However the use and execution of it in the PL is horrific. Look at how the European refs managed it at (I think it was) the last euros or World Cup compared to the 20 minute delays we have to watch.
This.

Similar systems work well in other sports but the Premier League are hopeless.

Clear and obvious, 2 minutes max for non factual decisions like offsides. No refs going to screens, total waste of time, the bloke in the box decides.

That would be a start.

If they’d only seen it being used in European games and international tournaments they’d probably say great, get it in. They’ll have no doubt been put off by seeing Prem games having five minute pauses while Stuart Atwell has a breakdown and the officials shout incoherent noises at each other.

Wasn’t this going to be a challenge system? So the captains or managers instigate a var call. Lose the challenge and you’ve wasted it. Successful challenge and you keep one in the bank. Might have worked better than what the PL have where no one seems to know the criteria for a decision being looked at.

Works in Baller League 😎

This might not be a popular view but we are exactly the type of club that benefits from VAR, even if it still doesn't get everything right. We'd miss it if it was gone. Those no way 'decisions even themselves out throughout the year'.
