Exactly this, can't stand him. McGinn can be dirty one minute and then feign injury the next to get someone booked. He's one of the worst at this but the media ignores it. Normally, players do this because they don't think they are quite good enough but I think McGinn is actually a pretty good player. That he resorts to what is pretty much cheating is disappointing.Totally agree - for someone who loves to push, leave one in late on people etc he's one of the biggest divers and whingers in the league. Infuriating to play against but we'd probably love it if he was doing it for us!
Which Le Fee has been doing ever since he tried something flashy.Absolutely but we must make it abundantly clear to players they need to make the easy not flashy decision
Young men/young players make mistakes - he will be a worldie in a couple of years, I wish people would be more patient and back off.Which Le Fee has been doing ever since he tried something flashy.
Maybe that mistake was what we needed to happen to stop Diarra doing any more - and hopefully others trying stuff like that.
He will come good.I got ripped apart on here when I said he brings little to the team. He can get about the pitch but he’s not a very good footballer or for the benefit of the doubt not a good 10 / winger - maybe deeper he could do a job with his energy
That chance today he looked like he did everything he could to miss it
On what basis are you an expert on one on ones ?
A what, now?class.
I might be a pillock but I’m certainly not a mat Marra
When it happens it's very fast as if you look at the longer clip. Talbi is nowhere near close enough to begin with and behind a Villa defender. After the class pass from Le Fee, Diarra is away when he 1st touches the ball but Talbi is well behind and there's no way Diarra knows Talbi is busting a gut to catch up either. Diarra is on his own from his perspective is within 2 seconds of facing Martinez.
It's only just before Diarra knocks the ball slightly to the right with the outside of his boot to gain to shape up to shoot that Talbi is in a position to be seen but Talbi is still 6 yards behind (shades of grass are 6 yards).
By that time, a couple of seconds and no doubt many thoughts of what to do, Diarra has made his decision as shapes up to shoot when the ball hits the D of the penna area as you see him adjust his feet. All this happens in just a few seconds and those who've played footy know that a few seconds watching isn't as fast as when the ball is at your feet and the gap to the keeper is closing fast and the pressure is on. The camera angle also make it's look closer than it is.

As for the pace of the ball as some are still saying it wouldn't have gone in, unless they've missed the slow mo gig. The ball is kicked faster than Ming's is running and it would have went in. The image below has the ball just after it's kicked at the top and just before it's saved at the bottom with Mings in a similar position in both.

Missing out the bit when he said it’s miles harder than it looks?Wayne Rooney said he should’ve squared it, or put it into the bottom right corner. I think he’s qualified to speak on goal scoring.
Who are "we" to tell them this?Absolutely but we must make it abundantly clear to players they need to make the easy not flashy decision
Passionate people are always going to have knee jerk and emotional reactions in the moment. I'm still absolutely gutted and annoyed at Diarra for that miss. We would be 6th now and in good stead to get into the Europa League which will take us to the next level and bring a global audience to us.Unforgiveable, embarrassing and should never put a shirt on for us again were just some of the posts from yesterday.
Martinez does brilliant. He can see Diarra is running centrally in a straight line, so comes right out to him to close the gap. When it happens it's very fast as if you look at the longer clip. His fitness (or lack of it) has no bearing on his decision making. A pass to Talbi was a nailed on goal and probable winner. He needs a pre season ,let’s be fair on the lad he missed 3 months with a serious hamstring injury, still probably holding back a bit because that injury is still probably playing on his mind tbh
Sick of saying this to people.Talbi is nowhere near close enough to begin with and behind a Villa defender. After the class pass from Le Fee, Diarra is away when he 1st touches the ball but Talbi is well behind and there's no way Diarra knows Talbi is busting a gut to catch up either.
Seeing the GIF back really helps (cheers again @ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK for posting).in hindsight i don't think it's as bad as i thought it was yesterday. it's just really good goalkeeping. Martinez sets to block the low shot to his left with his legs and then somehow still in a split second gets his hand up to stop the chip. it's like 2 save motions at the same time. and Diarra from his position has no idea Talbi is there for that to even be a thought to him
The only way he’d see Talbi is if he suddenly turns his head to the right when running through on goal, but no player is doing that one on one in the last minute at 3-3.Sick of saying this to people.

Yeah it looks like he was going to save the same way as he did in the World Cup, amazingly also 3-3 in the last minutes and it being a match winning save to eventually win the World Cup.Martinez does brilliant. He can see Diarra is running centrally in a straight line, so comes right out to him to close the gap.
Sure, he could hit it early to the keeper’s side - but if he shoots from 25 yards when one on one we’d likely be fuming he hasn’t took it further forward.
It’s marginal like. Literally a couple of inches higher on the chip and it’s probably a goal.
Hard lines, but an excellent save.
I’m more pissed off with the fact that we conceded seconds later than the actual Diarra miss.
No bother and it's why I post stuff like that as sometimes it changes peoples opinions. I though the same as you as no doubt did many others seeing it live. Seeing it again then I can see it a lot differently and I'm not as narked with Diarra as I initially was thinking his chip was too weak and that he should have passed to Talbi as this was my post in the match thread.Seeing the GIF back really helps (cheers again @ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK for posting).
At the time I thought he very softly tried to lift it over the keeper and it would have barely gone past the 6 yard line.
The only way he’d see Talbi is if he suddenly turns his head to the right when running through on goal, but no player is doing that one on one in the last minute at 3-3.
It’s ridiculous to blame him for not passing it to Talbi.
He's gotta pass that man!
Good post. Agree with your overall point. However, if people are seeing it as the lad you are responding to does, it's no wonder he's getting abuse. The lad has described as a simple roll across for a tap in.Have you seen the replay though from the camera behind Diarra, Talbi is miles behind him, he makes up ground quickly but only gets anywhere near him just as HD is already pulling the trigger. Could he have done better yes, should he have, possibly. He's had a decent effort and the keeper made a good save.
Not from you by the way but I'm shocked at the levels of abuse the kid is getting. That's just on here, presumably it's much worse on twitter etc.
