SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

My issue with this isn't that "They are available if you know where to go to." two people who don't know who one of the most notable players in the last few years is and multiple Aston villa shirts in there bag i personally wouldn't say they were our fans? i have no issue with supporters who haven't got a season ticket getting away tickets but when people take them off people who are fans of the club i think that is very very poor

I've heard rumours earlier this season (I stress I have no evidence to confirm!) that players tickets are being sold on.

Comments getting deleted
Well a couple of the comments I read just go to prove that, just like all other clubs, we have some utterly sad twats supporting the club. How anyone can think that a supporter who has had a season ticket for 40 years is playing some kind of ‘card’ to get special treatment is beyond me. Of course they deserve special treatment; they have been there supporting unconditionally during some horrendous seasons. The Club should be rewarding their loyalty and doing everything in its power to look after them…it’s not like it doesn’t have a database that tells them exactly how long someone has held a season card. Even if it’s only one MLF that’s affected…it’s one too many!

You deny that points farming exists. It’s ridiculous.

My agenda is that I support fans who only just miss out because tickets have fell into the hands of those not entitled. The ones who have put in a decent amount of miles in their own name. They should have the tickets. Instead they are being given to whoever the points farmer chooses to give them too or they are being given to people to fill a bus. That’s is wrong.

I have zero evidence that it does… and I’m confused in how it can to the levels being spoken of. Hence I’ve asked reasonable questions that seeks not opinion.

We had an American couple next to us in the away end yesterday.. they had a villa shop bag with the home away and goalkeeper top in the bag .. WAIT IT GETS BETTER.. BALLARD THEN GETS SUBBED ON THEY ASKED EACH OTHER WHO HE WAS.. THEN THEY LEFT ON THE 75TH MINUTE! how are people like that getting tickets over some loyal supporters me and my partner are ok we are on the 80+ mark but some die hard fans are missing out while people like that are getting them?

Surely they got the tickets through a coorperate sponsor or a player / high ranking member of staff ?

As I've asked before on this thread.... tell me, how do you know this for certain? I'm genuinely intrigued.

I'd also be interested to know if anyone had ID checks done on them as has been happening up to the derby ticket carry-on. If so, does anyone know of any fails?
There was few yesterday from just hearing people talking. I was talking to couple of young'uns who had just got in but their mates ticket declined at the turnstile...another lad near us also said his mate got declined aswel.

And it’s not up to anyone to give you evidence. You are a random poster on a message board not judge, jury and executioner.

I was sat next to two Dutch lads yesterday. I assume they were friends or family of Roefs.
There were a small group of African lads in full traditional african wear at Newcastle away as well. Could be from a number of players obviously

This is a follow up statement I provided to the club on 1 April 2026.....

SAFC2012 – SAFC – Updated statement 01/4/2026

Following the club producing & publicly sharing a statement via RAWA & RTG, I feel
it is only appropriate that I have a “right to reply”. I would have hoped the club would
have contacted me to discuss anything regarding our “dispute”.

The statement:

The Club has recently acted in response to an exceptional and serious instance of
ticket misuse. This case involved multiple unauthorised uses of supporter accounts,
without the knowledge of those account holders, as well as facilitation of tickets
being used by individuals other than the eligible purchaser, in breach of our ticketing
rules. Our investigations indicate that this accounted for more than 50% of some
group purchases.
The misuse has also been acknowledged by those involved and the Club has taken
appropriate action.
We recognise that some supporters have been affected through no fault of their own
and appreciate the disappointment this has caused. The club will continue to work
with the supporter ticketing sub group to review and improve processes, with the aim
of ensuring away tickets are distributed fairly and only to genuine supporters"

My response.
In terms of involving multiple unauthorised uses of supporters accounts.
I have never, knowingly, used a supporters account without their prior knowledge or
consent. I would fully accept that having received consent I did not reconfirm every
time with every individual. Any other accounts that I had access to was to provide
assistance to the season ticket holder in accessing their match ticket. This was in
respect of both home and away games.

Accounted for more than 50% of some group purchases.

This is factually untrue and I suspect comes from a (confidential?) comment I made
in the meeting. I said that my suspicion would be that approximately 50% of away
tickets are not used by the actual person the ticket is in the name of. It may be 40%
or 60% however I suspect it’ll be in that ballpark figure.

Please note:

In the one & only meeting I was advised that all information would be treated in
confidence. My question would be why have the club willingly and deliberately
breached that confidence. I have never mentioned any employees name within the
club as that would be a breach of confidence and trust. I am very disappointed that
the club have not kept their word.

Furthermore, at the meeting I was not asked nor invited to explain the whole
situation from my perspective nor given a right to reply. The meeting was rather
hurried as the room was required. This was very disappointing as I clearly had much
more information to give.

The information provided by the club to RAWA clearly, in my opinion, breaches
GDPR as I’m clearly identifiable from the information that is readily available on
social media. This is highlighted by the messages I have received prior to me seeing
the information published on 31 st March (yesterday)..

For the avoidance of doubt, I was not provided with an agenda for the meeting and
nor have I been provided with a copy of the draft minutes of the meeting for approval
/ corrections to be made. Yesterday afternoon I sent an email to the club advising
that I am disappointed and surprised not to have received the draft minutes.

Furthermore, I was advised by one of my friends prior to the outcome being emailed
to me, details of the investigation as he had been told by a relative who works in the
ticket office at Sunderland AFC. This is again a breach of confidence and GDPR.

I have not once been contacted by any member of the club since I acknowledged
receipt and acceptance of the sanctions imposed on me. For the avoidance of doubt,
I did not do this as an admission of guilt, I felt threatened by the comments that were
put in the outcome email. I should have sought legal advice, but to be honest I was
in shock.

It is worth reminding that the club were very happy for me to dispose of tickets on
their behalf, during the less successful times. Also, I have received confidential,
potentially “rule breaking” and embarrassing information regarding the club & tickets
that I am willing to discuss with the club.

Finally, I feel sure all this can be sorted amicably via a meeting with the appropriate
club officials. The last thing I want is for the club to be dragged into a public &/or
legal situation. All I have ever wanted was the best for the club & supporters.

The above quote is verbatim from the lad who has been banned by the club posting himself on this thread.

He states that:

Personally I was shocked at the level of that guess, but if he is acknowledging the issue himself we can at least agree it's happening?

What the club should do about it is something else entirely, but let me say from the outset that my starting point is that I am still absolutely disgusted at the sanctions imposed on him. Bloke deserves a medal the size of the town hall clock face for all he's done over the years.

I know it's been done to death but that just doesn't sit right with me, when there's 10,000s of life long Sunderland fans who would have killed to be there
Yep I feel similar. Whilst players are important, they come and go….I will still be supporting the Club until I pop my clogs. Whilst there is a debate on-going about fans passing on away tickets to other fans, the number of away tickets being allocated to players/staff/sponsors/ex players seems to be going under the radar somewhat. It has been all too noticeable this year that there seems to have been a noticeable increase, especially for London games.

I would suggest that it’s complete nonsense.
