Don't think it's been on here. Very interesting opinions especially on Di Canio, the attitude of the Mags dressing room compared to ours, Benitez and others.

Fascinating insight to an important recent period in our history.

Obviously loads will hate just the mention of GPB's name but I think he comes across well

Wouldn't trust a word the lad says.

Benitez average  only won a champions league with one of the worst sides we've seen in a final against one of the best sides of all time.

Personally found his brand of football well tedious!
I know he’s won stuff but meh
He was a good manager with very solid principles. But the football isn't necessarily exciting to watch. Mourinho is a better manager but perhaps is seen in a similar light

A lot of footballers opinions on Benitez are more negative than you'd imagine.

More to do with how he was as a person, quite cold apparently, especially for the Liverpool lads who'd came from having Houllier who was meant to be like having another fatha.

Carra said as much but also that Benitez had the most impact on making him a better player.

I didn't care much for his brand of football but calling him average is a stretch.

Did nowt at the mags though

Only really Howe that's done owt with them in the last 70 year and all he's managed is a league cup with a much better squad than Benitez had available.

Can anyone list some other average managers who've won a Champions League, La Liga twice, UEFA Cup and Europa League?

Considering he achieved all that with teams and players that were nowhere near the best in those competitions at the time apart from Chelsea in the Europa League.
With Gerard Houllier's team and a superhuman effort by Gerrard.

 Houllier's team. Sure, if you ignore the fact that Michael Owen, their top scorer for the previous seven seasons left.

Benitez took the wheel with a significantly weakened attack and still won the Champions League. Very few managers in world football at that time would have achieved what he did with those resources.
