Yes he will divert from the structure to make a block or a tackle. But ultimately when the other team has the ball around your area then your back 4 need to keep their defensive shape.
Why would you want players trying to switch about with each other. That would just open you up to carnage and empty spaces with players to run into.
Just sometimes have to admit that he wasn't good enough and could not deal with Watkin's movement.

I disagree, Ballard was fit, should have started and will stand by that, football is a game of opinions and I agree to disagree, next match Ballard will start, if Alderete is injured a big call as to who replaces him, my opinion is it should not be Luke

I think that's a bit harsh. He's done ok overall and maybe Regis decided that ballard wasn't ready for the full 90 so he preferred to go for O'Nien.
Watkins is one of the best strikers in the league on his day. So quick and movement is excellent - he was just too good for our defence today.
It was mainly O'Nien that was exploited. It's football - it happens.

I think it's fair to say that he could have done better for all 4 goals though. I don't think we concede those 4 goals with Ballard and Alderete as the pairing.

Infinitely better with 4 PL quality defenders.
