SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

I think what a lot of people want to know is if these tickets have been getting into the hands of people less 'deserving' of them. I think it's a reasonable question, especially if it means others have beem missing out.

Nobody is doubting the lad's loyalty and commitment to the club, which is exceptional.

I guess if people have been giving their numbers to a branch to use as part of bigger application , if you then decide to pass your tickets on then it's not the responsibility of the branch

Exactly this and by SAFC2012’s own admission he feels that a substantial number of tickets are given away to the “wrong” person.

I know a father and son who have been to every away except Newcastle and Oxford this season on the proviso they travel on a certain bus. The tickets were not in their names. They have season tickets but no loyalty points.

This is massively widespread. It’s a big issue and it stops genuine fans in small groups or individuals build up their points and go to games because branches or ticket farmers have swept them all up for onward distribution.

The person running the branch should surely take responsibility if they are buying the tickets. They should be sure the tickets they are buying are going to the right people or not buying them at all.

Well he shouldn't be buying them then. Apologies if this seems harsh to an undoubtedly passionate and loyal member of our fan base.

At least is all out in the open now. As the thread bullies were jumping on anyone who dare suggest this was going on. Now the main man has made it public.

How can you do that ?

I've done loads of purchases of 8 or 9 tickets for my group this season. If one of those lads decides to pass on thier ticket (which has happened loads of times) ,.why should I get punished ?

I've been to every single away this season, on my own number.

Easily, you buy the tickets for people you know and know are going to be using them. You don't buy them if you are unsure.

You’ve no evidence that this is “massively widespread” and knowing a father & son doesn’t constitute that either.

For someone who promised not to post on this thread again, you’ve been remarkably active of late🤷

Why aye mate..you live in cloud cuckoo land

Ive bought 4 tickets for tomorrow, me and the three I always go with .

If one of those lads decides they can't go tomorrow and passes their ticket to someone, what the fuck has that got to do with me ?

What you are suggesting is that every single fan should only buy one ticket, their own, at all times.

You bought the ticket, of course it has something to do with you. Don't buy it if you're not sure it'll get used by the person you're buying it for.

I haven't suggested that at all, but continue to invent straw-man arguments if you wish.

Hang on, let me get this straight..

Ive bought 4 tickets for tomorrow, me and my three mates. How can I ever be sure that one of them isn't going drop out and pass thier ticket on? They are my good mates but I can't control thier lives..

Unless it's your own ticket, how can you ever be sure your mate isnt going to pass it on?

For clarity, I've bought the same four tickets for me and my three mates for almost every away game this season and they lads have always used them themselves, don't think they've ever passed theirs on to anyone. But they could if they wanted to

Just for context, @Things Change is a WUM account. He told me in a DM a couple of years back.

So it's probably best to just ignore what he posts as he's just trying to get bites from posters.

My mate bought him and me Leeds away tickets. I woke up the morning of the game feeling like absolute shite so didn't go and passed my ticket on.

If my ticket had been selected for a ID check and failed, should my mate be punished?

If they're your mates and you're buying the tickets for a Sunderland away game, you should be pretty sure you know that they're going to attend. Seems a bit strange that you wouldn't be sure.

You've said yourself that they have used them all season, why would they suddenly now just decide to not go and pass them on to someone else?

Sounds like you're just being a bit contrarian.

Sounds like you're talking about an isolated incident. Does this happen regularly? Again, we seem to be going down the straw-man argument road.

Fully agree with you, the only time I’d disagree is if the person buying the ticket is doing it regularly. You can’t help it if work, illness or life changes and you can’t go. Would AC Mack be happier if the seat just was left empty as that’s the only option as the club don’t wan any tickets back to resell.

If there was a chance of sending the ticket back to the club and the next person in line getting the ticket id agree that’s the best option but as it stands it’s either ask a mate (‘who doesn’t deserve it’) or it be left empty. There’s only 1 acceptable option in the situation the club have created.

Also to add it seems the club don’t care about somebody giving up a ticket if it makes a good social media story for 2 travelling from Australia but for a league game at Leeds it’s worthy or cancelling a derby match.

Because that's life. I've just spoke to one lad about tomorrow and he's been off work with a bad back all week so isn't sure if he's going. If he decides not to go and forwards his ticket to someone else , why should I get my season ticket taken off me for that?

I've been going to away games for 20 years with this lad. I always buy ours together. Doesn't mean that at some point he might pass a ticket on when he can't go for what ever reason.

You are absolutely mental if you think I deserve banning from home and away games if my mate passes his ticket on tomorrow

Of course I wouldn't want it empty, I'd want it to be bought and used by someone on the correct number of loyalty points.

Why are people comparing a one-off scenario where one of your mates is ill on the day of the game, to a branch buying 65 tickets? It's all just straw-man nonsense.

If someone was doing it regularly I wouldn't be buying there's as part of my order. Why would I?

I buy me and my mates tickets so we can stand together at the match
