Other than Forest, pretty much everyone else we play doesn't have a huge amount to play for. Chelsea and Everton may be driven for Europe, but by that point they may have it sewn up or not.
We need to capitalise on the potential on the beachnedness of these games
Only if they finish in the top 6.If City or Chelsea win the FA Cup, the League position to qualify for the Conference League is 8th.
If Leeds win the FA Cup, it's 7th.
In the unlikely scenario that Villa win the Europa League and finish 5th (not top 4), then 6th place is a Champions League spot but England lose a Europa League spot to compensate that.
We're currently 2 points off 6th and 1 point off 7th.
We also have Everton and Chelsea to play in our last 2 games of the season.
If we win those last 2 games, beat Villa this weekend and take 4 points from Wolves and Forest, we'd probably secure 6th. 4 wins and a draw from our last 6 seems a stretch.
3 wins and a draw (without losing to Everton) would very likely get us a top 8 finish. So wins against Forest, Wolves and Everton with a draw against either Villa, Man United or Chelsea as well.
Still a big ask but not that unrealistic.
I’d be happy with 7 points but 10 will probably get us EuropeTen points might do it imo. Forest and Wolves are the two to win to set up a big finish to the season. A draw at Villa would be a great start to the run in.
56 would be a historically low amount for Europe, but it is a nice conundrum to have. The only time we had it in our last premier league run was 1 season under Bruce where we were 6th in January, but his usual Spring collapse ended those hopes by March.I’d be happy with 7 points but 10 will probably get us Europe
Obviously a brilliant position to be in. Most, me included, assumed that mid April would be looking over your shoulder. Looking up just demonstrates what a great campaign it has been.Of course! Dont need snookers yet, still enough balls on the table
That's how that phrase works
Its only "not in your hands" if despite winning all remaining games your still reliant on other results
Looking at this weekends fixtures it's hard to know what would be better for us.
Newcastle v Bournemouth (draw)
Spurs v Brighton (draw)
Brentford v Fulham (away win)
Everton v Liverpool (away win)
Chelsea v Man United (away win)
Just can't see it happening personally. AND I wouldn't really be too upset if both Bournemouth and Brighton won
Fuck it it's too complicated. We just need to take a point on Sunday, minimum
I think you will be fine then.We really need City to win it.
I stuck £50 on top 6 finish in Portugal pre season after few to many bevvies . So 6th would be cannyI want 6th. Only cos I've got a tenner on it like. Well, not only.
Get a point and get the fuck out of dodge.
My away motto all season "ad tak a point"
That would make a few people sit up and take notice. Agree with that. Nothing short of a very good run of form and results would do it. The incentive is there to play till the end and not be reaching for the beach towels early.Just looking at the points totals from last five seasons for 7th place.
you generally need about 60, 61, 62 points which seems a bit of a stretch.. outlying totals as high as 66 and as low as 56.
a bit of traffic in our way but Brentford not in good form right now and we have to play Everton.
In summary.. not beyond the realms of possibility but a real stretch.
If we beat Villa it’s game on though!
Sorry if SEB, aint been on in a while. Ha’way the Lads.
I have £2 on a top half finish at 28/1 and £1 on a top 5 finish at 80/1 (last of the big spenders)I stuck £50 on top 6 finish in Portugal pre season after few to many bevvies . So 6th would be canny![]()
And most of us too. I expect we will finish 10-11th which is still bloody amazing, but no harm in dreamingObviously a brilliant position to be in. Most, me included, assumed that mid April would be looking over your shoulder. Looking up just demonstrates what a great campaign it has been.
My mate has £100 on top half at 28/1 as well. I told him to cash it in after the Brighton game as well. He didn’t.I have £2 on a top half finish at 28/1 and £1 on a top 5 finish at 80/1 (last of the big spenders)
I nearly cashed in my top half for a tenner after the Brighton defeat, I’m glad I didn’t now!
Last season being this season?I dont think low cost is what last season was
Last season being this season?
Compared to how we have spent in other years yes we spent a lot
However we got Roefs, Sadiki, Alderete and Reinildo for 50m. By premier standards that is glove box change for the quality we attained
Obviously you missed my inference that what we got for what we paid out was nothing other than low cost
My view is that money spent on Brobbey, Talbi, Diarra will prove to be bargains
The only signing that is open to question is Adingra and we may recoup that after his loan
Couldn’t agree more . Half the teams I’ve never even heard of .The conference league is the Papa John's of Europe and completely f***ing pointless. I'd rather concentrate on the league and hopefully a domestic cup run. What does the conference cup even mean? Playing teams that finished 5th in Norway maybe? It's bullshit man
One will, maybe. Wolves and Burnley will both finish 10-15 points adrift of anything like safety. Will probably be a lower total this year as the three bottom teams will have higher points totals than normal.
