Aleksic returns

I thought that but actually it’s not that bad, will probably have Elborg, O’Nien, Rigg, Angulo and one of either Traore or Diarra as well as one of Mayenda or Isidor.

That looks just what it is; a newly promoted, poor bench, to be honest.

Never found anything about this since but I always think about when we signed him, there was a couple people saying that they had a clause on promotion where his home town gets a decent wedge, hope it wasn't bullshit

It's my one slight criticism of RLB. He does seem to make his mind up about a player and if he doesn't rate them it's game over for them.

Tbf he's probably right about most but someone like Aleksic is still relatively young has some talent and the time to improve. Too young to just be discarded imo.

From the outside it does look like attitude and work rate are massive for Regis. No problem with that but to reach that next level you might need a maverick game changer, a Cantona type who doesn't fit the template but gets you results, Can RLB handle a player of that ilk?

PS not saying Aleksic is the next Cantona

Isn’t that the sign of a top coach? Nobody has proved him wrong -he quickly worked out Neil, Mepham, Browne, Patterson etc were notEPL standard

Is this the same Aleksic who could barely get a game in Polish football? Hardly a marvellous standard. He was bought when we were in the Championship as a bloke who could maybe grow into that level. We have pretty much out grown him. Not our or his fault.

Auchiche too. Looked decent in his cameos but RLB was having none of it and only played him when he had no other choice
Regis has a good eye for a player to be fair. Will trust his judgement in future.

Shipped Adingra out immediately too.

Serious question, could you name me some "maverick" players in the modern day, because from my eye those players a think of past

Even Grealish, N'Daiye etc all graft off the ball now

His background is as youth coach, head of academy etc

And I cant imagine ELF was a grafter like he is when he was 14/15, I think RLB will installed in him, and I think as long RLB is here we'll have team of hard workers, which 5 years we would have all killed for

Agree. All elite players now put a shift in. Yamal et all. Grafters. But we're not going to be able to sign elite players. Best example I can think of would be Sancho. Although I doubt we could afford him either tbh. Would he improve our creativity. Absolutely. Would RLB be able to incorporate that type of player????
I wouldn't exactly say Adingra was a shirker, not that we saw much of him, but shelled within 6 months.
RLB certainly knows what he wants but will his prioritisation of work rate over flair limit him?

Would you seriously want us to sign Sancho? I certainly wouldnt . His lack of urgency reminds me of that rt winger that Moyes signed , still playing in Spain I believe , I cannot remember his name but he was criminally bone idle.

Adnan Januzaj?

Not having a go, I just genuinely might have misunderstood you...but Sancho is pretty much the dictionary definition of what we don't do any more, surely? Failed at top clubs, on massive wages and with a suspect attitude.

You're surely not advocating signing him?

Also, as far as "not signing elite players" goes we got the lad who finished 16th in the Balon D'Or to be our captain, and Nordi should be nowhere near a newly promoted team either
